Had a brilliant week with the kids at Awelfa. Accommodation is lovely and the harbour town is so pretty. The house is well placed for shops, pubs, restaurants and the beach. There is an aga cooker as well as a traditional oven and we had great fun getting to grips with it :-). We stayed during the February half term and it was a little on the chilly side when the heating went off (the beautiful old house only has single glazing) but as soon as i mentioned it to the caretaker we were brought hotwater bottles, extra quilts and electric blankets (within 2 hours!).

We had an excellent week. The house is beautiful, and big enough for 6 adults,2 children and a 3 month old baby. The kitchen is well equipped and all fittings of high quality. The games room was much appreciated by the children. The laundry room was brilliant particularly with a 3 month old baby in the house! The surrounding area is beautiful. The house is well situated in the village. The children loved crabbing in the harbour. Good shops and plenty of choice to eat out if we wanted to, all within easy walking distance.

I had very high expectations of what this property would be like based on the photos and other reviews. I have to say that Awelfa far surpassed my expectations, it is gorgeous and certainly has the wow factor! The interior is stunning and has obviously been completed by a very good interior designer. Nothing has been overlooked and clearly no expense has been spared! It is immaculate. Awelfa is very spacious and easily accommodated a family of seven. The games room is fabulous and kept the all of the children aged between 5 and 17 entertained. The garden and summer house are lovely and very well kept. We loved the quirky seaside town of Aberaeron with it's brightly coloured houses. The harbour is a short walk from the house with a good variety of excellent restaurants and cafes. This is by far the best holiday property we have stayed in. It felt like staying in a luxury boutique hotel. It is the perfect place for a fantastic family holiday.

A great place to stay very well supervised by the owner for comfort equipment and amenities only thing lacking a child/adult friendly beach but plenty a 20min drive away.

A stunning house and excellent base for an extended family holiday. Rosemary you have exceeded all expectation for quality and quantity of facilities. Superb Bedrooms, a fantastic Kitchen/Diner, lovely outside facilities and basement playrooms that kept our grandchildren entertained for hours. Did not see any dolphins due to rough seas but caught 32 mackerel between 4 of us on the Epic Fishing trip. Our grandchildren loved seeing the Red Kites feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian. We ate well at the Cellar and Celtic restaurants. Hope we can return again sometime soon.

Our expectations were very high when it came to this property. I can categorically say they were all met. Even surpassed in some areas, for example the amount of space the house offers and the quality of everything within, from the washing machine to the bed linen, no corners have been cut at all. The only aspect not worthy of a 5 star rating are the sticky white labels prompting us to open blinds. The owner would benefit from baring in mind that people pay a lot of money to stay in this house and should really be afforded the freedom that this warrants. It was suggested that the owner tend the garden during our stay because there wasn't sufficient time during the turnover between visitors and "because we would probably be out". This made us feel a little uncomfortable. These aren't major criticisms, the owner was very pleasant and welcoming but when paying 5 star prices you deserve 5 star service as well as the property itself

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you very much for your very positive remarks about Awelfa, I’m delighted that the house more than met your expectations. I think there may have been a misunderstanding about the garden though. The garden is kept neat but sometimes the weather isn’t so kind on a changeover day which makes tending it impossible. If guests are comfortable with me coming back on another day when they are out I am happy to do this to keep the lawn looking immaculate but I never wish to impose on guests enjoying their holiday or make them feel uncomfortable. Thank you again for your feedback and I hope that I will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the house again in the future.

This property certainly has the wow factor. We all walked in with open mouths, it set the holiday off to the best possible start. None of us wanted to leave after our week.

We couldn't fault Awelfa which successfully catered for our family party with ages ranging from 5 to 80 years old. The downstairs Games room was a huge hit with the younger members as it gave them their "own space" and meant that there was plenty of room for all. Beautiful house which passed our "would we be happy to spend the whole day inside test" with flying colours, lovely garden, access for my mum who has mobility issues (although a twin room on the ground room would have been even more perfect), outstandingly clean, warm and very friendly welcome from the lovely Rosemary and easy walking distance into Aberaeron town with all its amenities. My brother, not easily impressed, said that it was the sort of holiday retreat you wished you could take anywhere to ensure a great time. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We all enjoyed staying at Awelfa, the house is beautifully decorated and furnished. Each room is stylish and comfortable. It gave us some ideas for our own home decorating!! It is ideally situated to explore the town and the local area. We found everyone was very friendly and welcoming during our stay. We tried our best to get to all the cafes and restaurants but there are so many. The highlight of the week was walking the coastal path to New Quay-fabulous scenery. We were given lots of very useful and friendly advice from the lady in tourist information near the Harbour Master hotel. We would all love to return in the future.
