A brilliant base being right in the centre of Keswick with a parking place a few yards away and a well stocked spa shop next door. Street directly outside can be noisy though, even late at night. It seems to be a short cut for everyone, and traffic often backs up because it is very narrow. We didn't find it the warmest of cottages despite the central heating, but there is plentiful hot water. The bed has to be one of the most uncomfortable and creaky we've slept on - you can feel the metal springs. TV reception is very poor and we could not get any BBC channels at all. This has been mentioned before and we were assured that this had been addressed so it was disappointing especially as the nights are longer just now. We may have enjoyed it better in the summer although there is no outside space at the cottage.

well positioned wee cottage with car parking. However TV was dire, no reception for most of our holiday and very intermittent wifi. Since we were there the weekend of the bad flooding, having no means of communication was not good. What did annoy me was that the TV coverage had been mentioned several times in the visitor book and obviously ignored. Nice cottage spoiled by the lack of care to modern facilities. We were not flooded so the cottage was a safe haven, just a bit of a black hole with regards to urgent communications.

Response on behalf of the owner; Firstly we are glad that you remained dry during the storms. We are sorry you experienced problems with the television reception. As you can imagine during storm Desmond numerous services were disrupted and the free view status report from that weekend confirms that there was no service whatsoever. This is taken directly from their website: "Keswick and Threlkeld are relays fed via Bassenthwaite. Bassenthwaite has no mains electricity, and it is not possible to access the site with a generator due to flooding. The service will be restored as soon as its possible to restore the electricity supply." We do take our guests comments seriously and will investigate if there is anything we can do to improve television reception. We hope to welcome you back!

Cosy 2 bed terraced cottage in middle of Keswick close to all the amenities and good walks. The only downside is that the shower could benefit from upgrading.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments, we have since replaced the shower head, hose and holder.

We had a great week at Hazel's cottage. The location was ideal, and the facilities first rate. The parking facilities in particular were superb for such a central location, and the shop next-door provided a much appreciated service - open at all hours from early till late. We did have some trouble with TV reception on BBC channels, in the cottage, but there had apparently been a transmitter problem at one point during our visit. The WiFi worked very well however, as an alternative, and was much appreciated. All in all, Keswick is a superb holiday location, with a blend of old and new, and this cottage allowed us to take full advantage of it.
