Acorn barn was lovely, we had a wonderful week. Lovely and clean. Very well equipped. Everything you could possibly need was provided. Plenty of clean towels, even towels provided for the dog. The owner was lovely, very helpful and informative. Would definitely stay again.

I have been to the cottage twice now, I love this cottage, it's ideal for my dogs with the very safe enclosed garden, the bedrooms are all a lovely size and it has two bathrooms, so no queuing for the bathroom. If you want to get away from the rat race and chill out watching lots of wildlife, then this is the cottage for you. I will definitely be back, Anne is very helpful when you turn up, she will give you lots of information about places to go and places to eat. I would recommend for all my family and friends.

The location of the property was ideal for touring this part of Yorkshire, we were greeted by the owners who made us very welcome by having a drink and biscuits ready for us on our arrival. The property and facility's were excellent, and we would be very happy to return and stay in this lovely barn and area.

In my opinion this holiday let is in desperate need of a Makeover. Sofas old & uncomfortable Dining table & chairs horrendous you have to use sofa cushions to sit on as the chairs are that old & knackered. Actually that is where we found the majority of the cushions so either the previous family had put these there or the owner knows the chairs are knackered & uncomfortable & just chooses not to renew them. The beds were so old & horrible to sleep on we left early just to get into our own beds. There was a Gail force blowing in around the front door you could actually see who was coming down the path through the gap down the side it fitted that poorly. The kitchen is not really fit for purpose & definitely not for a big family you could only really get 2 people in at any one time & then you couldn't really move. Kitchen utensils really need to be renewed. The tin opener literally fell apart & we had to ask to borrow the neighbours, how embarrassing. There was far too many personal belongings cluttering every surface which we had to move to allow us to lay out our bits & bobs...felt like we were invading not very welcoming. Would have left our comments in the visitors book but we couldn't find one.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Acorn barn is a traditional barn with oak beams. The table is solid oak antique and the chairs are Victorian chairs, the chair is waiting to be re-covered in February, so I have put cushion on each chair. Beds were replaced by Next U.K. last year, when we decorated and replaced all duvets. I have never had any complaints from previous guests, In fact, I receive comments how clean and home from home it is, with everything you could need. I am lost to know what the personal effects are. Most of our quests before and after you came to visit rated the cottage 10/10. We decorate every February and renew what needs renewing. Guests have been coming every year for years, and continue coming.

A beautiful character cottage in a nice quiet setting. The cottage is spotlessly clean and the owner is really friendly and helpful. The garden is well thought out and is very secure for dogs. Although the kitchen is quite small there is everything you need on holiday. Some of the dining room chairs could do with a bit of a make-over as they are old and a bit uncomfortable and there could do with being a few more matching plates etc but these didn't affect our holiday in any way . Unfortunately the mattress on the downstairs double bed is a lot harder than ours at home so it took us a few days to get used to sleeping on it. The downstairs bathroom is massive. The upstairs floor is lovely and my teenage daughter was in her element with her own bedroom (her double bed was definitely more comfortable than ours!), dressing room and bathroom. There were 2 minature horses in the paddock just along from the cottage which was a nice touch.

The cottage was somewhat disappointing as the description stated that the farm would have miniature horses and donkeys, which my wife was looking forward to seeing. The only only horses in evidence were in a field in the distance. The hedge growing on the boundary would soon put a stop to that. As the main bedroom did not have an external window it was very dark in the mornings. Apart from that it was pleasant enough.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry you didn't find the cottage to your liking and chose to only give us a score of 5/10. Especially when usually our score is 10/10. We pride ourselves in making sure our guests very welcome and keep the cottage to very high standard, and we work very hard to maintain our 10/10 scores. We normally have miniature horses in the three paddocks as you drive in. In July the farm land was very rich in grass which caused the miniature horses to suffer from laminitis due to rich grass so the horses had to be stabled, but you could have seen them if you had requested. I am sure I would have mentioned this, If I did not I apologise. The location is a very beautiful rural area with lots of walks for your dogs and lots of wild life as stated in other reviews such as owls, deer, rabbits and lots of wild birds. Local amenities available are golf, fishing, spa, walks, restaurants and pubs, a Chinese take away and a bakery and Langley garden centre, these are all within 4 miles. There is the lovely seaside in Hornsea 35/40 mins away, Bridlington and of course York which is 13 miles away. We tell each guest if there is anything we can help with to make their holiday enjoyable to let us know. We always meet and greet and have a cup of tea or coffee ready for our guests. So I am very disappointed to have received such a low score, but as can be evidenced from our other reviews both previous and since this one, the majority of our guests are very satisfied with their stay.
