Description

Wisteria Cottage is a lovely romantic retreat, with open fire in the living room and pretty garden. Easy access into York via park and ride, 10-minute drive.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with beams and wooden floor. Kitchen with beams and tiled floor. 1 double bedroom with en-suite toilet. Wet room with toilet.

Open fire in living room included. Oil central heating included. Small, enclosed, lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Private patio and furniture. Wheelchair access.

Both properties: Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot, travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wi-fi. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. Welcome pack.

I did think it was quite expensive when I booked it but, was it worth it when we got there. Beautiful soft furnishings throughout, warm welcome from the owners, lovely views and fittings. We couldnt have had a better weekend anywhere.

Not only was the place well equipped and extremely comfortable, but the owners were very welcoming and had left wine, home made cake, fresh flowers and milk for us. The side garden/patio was a safe place for our dog, - no worries about her escaping. All in all a good experience.

Lovely cottage with very accommodating hosts. The cottage had everything we needed and lots of information on places of interest were provided. We would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from it all.

Best cottage we have ever stayed in, made very welcome by the owners, Sally and Tim. Well equipped, spotlessly clean cottage. We would definitely return to Wisteria Cottage.

Wisteria Cottage is a comfortable well equipped cottage in a quiet location if you want to get away from it all, and with the welcome package of a bottle of local wine, a homemade fruit cake and half a dozen eggs it was quite the home from home. The only reason I have scored the "comfort and equipment" down a little is that the central heating was not working (not the owners fault) and the nights were getting a bit cooler when we visited but mid week we were given an electric heater. The owners were there to greet us on arrival and were very warm and friendly with lots of advice on the local area. I would recommend Wisteria cottage wholeheartedly.
