Wisteria Cottage is a lovely romantic retreat, with open fire in the living room and pretty garden. Easy access into York via park and ride, 10-minute drive.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with beams and wooden floor. Kitchen with beams and tiled floor. 1 double bedroom with en-suite toilet. Wet room with toilet.

Lovely little cottage. Very well equipped. Tucked away in beautiful countryside but easy to get to York on park and ride. Owners supplied a welcome pack which was very thougthoughtful. Loved the added bonus of the Sheep,Shetland ponies and hens as neighbours. Definitely recommend.

This was the first time staying at Wisteria Cottage and what a gorgeous place it was. More than we hoped for. It has so much character, spacious rooms and so much thought has been put into what you might need on your stay there, particularly in the kitchen. Tim and Sally couldn't have been more helpful!(Thank you!) This is a lovely quiet retreat to relax in, with The Duke of York pub a couple of miles away serving excellent food. We will definitely be booking a stay here again. Wish we could move in permanently!

Very good accommodation that is very comfortable. There was a warm welcome after a very long journey. The cottage is fully equipped, very clean and facilities very user friendly. The availablity of a private garden is great to sit out in when warm enough. The on-site chickens, ponies and sheep are also happy to see you after a day out exploring.

Wisteria cottage is lovely, lived up to all the reviews that I have read about it. You are visited each morning by the owners animals Shetland ponies, chickens and sheep, it is so quiet and peaceful that the only noise you hear are the birds. We were left a few treats in the cottage milk, wine, fruit cake, and eggs which was a lovely extra. I would love to return again.

Fabulous cottage, lovely owners who provided extra lovely treats. A fantastic relaxing break which was enhanced by the cottage setting, opening the patio doors and being in the country. A private little courtyard where we could sit and listen to the birdsong. Found some lovely places to visit without having to go into bustling York. Tim and Sally had provided lots of leaflets of places to visit and a file with lots of information which was very useful. Did not want to leave at the end of the week and would love to live there! We hope to return.
