Wisteria Cottage is a lovely romantic retreat, with open fire in the living room and pretty garden. Easy access into York via park and ride, 10-minute drive.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

I can not recommend this enough. My partner and myself wanted to be close to York but far enough that we could relax with a warm fire and country setting. Wisteria cottage was perfect and Sally and Tim the perfect hosts. Every question was answered and every effort made to enhance our experience. The pictures don't do the cottage justice, it is beautiful and large whilst still having a cosy homely feel. Everything we could have asked for.

A charming, comfortable and well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings. The owners are very friendly, helpful and hospitable. A beautiful area for walking with access to a number of long distance footpaths. Very interesting country houses, towns and cities within a reasonable distance.

Lovely little cottage. Very well equipped. Tucked away in beautiful countryside but easy to get to York on park and ride. Owners supplied a welcome pack which was very thougthoughtful. Loved the added bonus of the Sheep,Shetland ponies and hens as neighbours. Definitely recommend.

This was the first time staying at Wisteria Cottage and what a gorgeous place it was. More than we hoped for. It has so much character, spacious rooms and so much thought has been put into what you might need on your stay there, particularly in the kitchen. Tim and Sally couldn't have been more helpful!(Thank you!) This is a lovely quiet retreat to relax in, with The Duke of York pub a couple of miles away serving excellent food. We will definitely be booking a stay here again. Wish we could move in permanently!
