Lovely, quaint cottage. The wine, chocs and other items that were there when we arrived were much appreciated :). Enclosed garden was ideal for our dog. Enjoyed our stay and look forward to going there again.

This is a really small, tiny, cottage and not much room at all and with a downstairs bathroom. We were unaware that it is situated right on a busy road, has a neighbour right up close to the property. In addition, there is weekend motor racing at the disused airfield across the road all making for a noisy environment. The main bedroom has a small wardrobe but only some hangers on hooks on the wall in the 2nd bedroom. The kitchen is very small and difficult for two people at once. Things like no chopping board, dirty grill are disappointing. It was also cold as a draft blows through from the back and front door. The property also smelt of cigarette smoke when we arrived. On the upside, we were left a very nice welcome pack and the owner assisted us with the wifi. But we were pretty disappointed with this cottage compared with others we had stayed at for this price range.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments on your recent stay at Westover cottage. We are extremely disappointed and saddened at the majority of them as in nearly six years of renting our property we have had very good reviews with mainly overall reviews of 8s, 9s, and 10s, however we take all comments very seriously and will address them here. The cottage is indeed cosy and it is described as such in the website information, the kitchen is also described as compact but our guests mainly have found the property to be well formed and comfortable. Often bathrooms in small cottages are located downstairs, this not unusual, but I appreciate this might not suit everyone! This is the first complaint we have received in this respect so again this is disappointing it was so inconvenient for you. The property is detached and although there is a cottage next door and is one of three in the hamlet there is no noise from the neighbours. The cottage garden backs on to open fields and has two areas, one part of which is parallel to the neighbours but is separated by a wall and hedgerows and shrubbery. The cottage is not on a busy main road, it is set some way back on a private road away from the main road. The nearby Abingdon airfield hosts occasional events such as the annual air show, car rally's, motor racing, as far as I am aware they are one day events and again this has not been raised before but sorry this inconvenienced you. With regard to the other matters there is indeed a chopping board in the kitchen and it was there after you left so sorry you could not find this. I have spoken to the lady who manages the changeovers with regard to the dirty grill and she has apologised for missing this, the matter has now been dealt with. This is not something I would expect our guests to face and I will ensure it does not happen again. We will arrange some draught excluders to be placed at each of the doors. Smoking is strictly not allowed in the property and I will speak with our cleaner on this matter as she is normally very good at advising if anything is untoward. We are glad you enjoyed the welcome items and hope also the fact that you were able to arrive early and have a late departure also was of help, but sorry that you did not enjoy your overall experience as other guests have!

Perfect for our weekend trip to the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. A small but dainty cottage that met our needs. The TV was small and the wall heaters weren't particularly effective but wood was supplied for the open fire. We had a very pleasant stay.

Lovely place to stay: lots of little goodies to make you feel comfortable. Very warm and cosy though the ceilings and door frames were a bit too low for us!

We had a good time at the cottage and enjoyed especially to observe the more than 40 rabbits in the field behind the garden hedges.
