This delightful semi-detached stone built country cottage occupies a glorious rural setting in the pretty Peak District hamlet of Barber Booth. That said, other Peak District towns and villages are within easy reach including the wonderful honeypot village of Castleton, 15 minutes, Hathersage, famous for its associations with Robin Hood and the Eyre family, 20 minutes and the spa town of Buxton, 30 minutes. My husband and I had stayed in the Old Stable cottage for our honeymoon. The owner had very kindly changed our arrival day to accommodate us. Upon arrival we received a bottle of proseco and some chocolates. This made our honeymoon extra special. The cottage was very clean and compact. We were very surprised of how much stuff the owner had managed to fit in such a small space. It was a beautiful and characterful cottage, thank you for making our week so special.

The Old Stable is a real gem in the heart of Edale Valley. It was immaculate, well-organised and very cosy! The location is excellent: a 10 minute walk to Edale Village and The Pennine Way. And lovely walks are not far either to Kinder Scout and Mam Tor. There is a little general store located in Edale Village but it rarely seemed to be open when we passed it. Nearest shop for food or other misc. supplies was Spar in Hope about 10-15 minute drive away. If you don't want to leave once you get there (which you won't!!), I'd suggest shopping for your food/supplies before arriving so you can hunker down and enjoy your stay. Once you're there, you really don't need to travel anywhere by car if you don't want to. Every great view/spot around you is within walking distance! We look forward to returning to The Old Stable again very soon!
