Very surprised when we arrived as it is much better than the photos on the website indicate. We do appreciate that due to its character it is difficult to photograph. The furniture and equipment far exceed what is the norm for a rental cottage. The cottage has a small but lovely fenced garden which is good for dog owners.

We absolutely loved this cottage. Was an ideal base for exploring the lakes and a bonus close to some lovely beaches. The cottage was spotless, cosy with lovely furnishings and the owner was very nice and helpful. We did not want to leave.

Our only issue not enough baking trays, or oven proof dishes. Otherwise the cottage was brilliant, very comfortable clean, well equipped.

A nice enough cottage but is let down by the location next to a busy main road - not a fault of the owner but should be factored in when booking.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry these guests did not like the location however; this is the first comment of this nature that has been given in over 10 years. The road is a B road so no buses use it however, it does get busy at times. It should therefore be expected that there would be some associated traffic noise, but the convenience of being close to everything that The Lake District has to offer is surely compensation for this.

Absolutely excellent property; really made our weekend a perfect one. The cottage is welcoming and spacious; the outdoor seating area was perfect for afternoon Pimms with friends and the location was fabulous (close enough to the village with stunning views and a few good walks nearby). A pleasure to stay in!

We booked the Gallery for a weekend away to celebrate my wife's birthday, and had our two year-old daughter with us too. As the owner was going to be abroad for a family wedding, she gave me a call a few days beforehand to let me know. There were a couple of minor issues over the weekend (we needed a travel cot on arrival, and a fuse blew one evening and we did not have access to the fusebox), both of which were handled promptly by the pleasant young man the owner had left in charge. His helpfulness also went above and beyond when we got home and found we had left a couple of items in the cupboard and he agreed to post them back to us! It was the kind of service lacking in many places these days!! We all had a lovely time at the Gallery, and would certainly return and recommend to others.
