There’s plenty to do here to make Poppy an ideal romantic getaway. Enjoy views from the gardens or walk the coastal path.

Set on the coastal road, just 600 yards above sheltered Maidencombe Beach and the village’s pretty thatched inn, these six very comfortably furnished holiday properties (refs 28862, 28863, 28864, 28865, 28866 and 28867) all have separate entrances and enjoy the use of an acre of attractively landscaped gardens with extensive sea views. They are ideally situated for the coastal path, yet still enjoy a peaceful and tranquil setting for abundant local wildlife. Primrose (a ground floor apartment), Bluebell (set on the first floor) and Foxglove (on the second floor with a roof terrace giving spectacular sea views) are situated in a purpose-built extension to the owner’s Victorian residence, whilst Poppy (a first floor apartment) is part of the original house. The ‘English Riviera’ is famous for its mild climate and is ideal for year-round breaks. Torquay, with its many amenities is only 4 miles away. These are the perfect properties for family get-togethers, friends’ reunions and celebrations. There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves, beaches and walks with opportunities for surfing, swimming, diving, sailing and angling. Torquay is an ideal base from which to visit Dartmouth, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth. It is a place in which to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a holiday in a classic English seaside resort. Torquay town centre and Living Coasts are about 5 minutes away. Oddicombe Beach is also close by, and discover the shopping area of St Marychurch, a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the harbour area. Oddicombe Beach can be reached by foot down a very steep, wooded lane, or choose a more gentle ascent on the historic Babbacombe Cliff Railway. One of only a few original working funicular railways, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway has been transporting visitors up and down the 240 foot cliff-face since 1926. A short stroll from Oddicombe Beach leads to Babbacombe Beach and a pub. Nearby, visit the Babbacombe Model Village. Exeter and Plymouth are within an easy drive. There are many NT properties, including Agatha Christie’s summer house in Galmpton. Golf and walking locally. Shops 2 miles, pub and restaurant 600 yards.

External steps to entrance. All on first floor: Living/dining room/kitchen area. 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating included. Two digital TVs.

All properties: Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Digital TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared laundry with coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer. Fridge/freezer. This is a spotlessly clean holiday apartment with lovely sea views from the living area and the bedroom. Good parking and lovely garden to sit and enjoy the view (lovely sunrise!) Beach and pretty thatched pub close by down a steep hill. Bowden house is on a main road with no paths but we did see plenty of buses. The only complaint we could make was that the bed seemed very narrow and we kept waking each other up. Also you should be aware that there is no welcome pack so you need to bring everything including hand soap. Plenty of cooking pans/ tools etc. Overall if we visit this area again we wouldn't think twice about staying here again we didn't want to go home!

The apartment was beautiful with superb views but was further out from Torquay than we realised. The only adverse comment we would make is that there were not any cleaning products in the property ( it is the first time we have not taken them with us as they have always been provided before)
