We had a great holiday here. The surroundings are just beautiful and the cottage was comfortable and contained everything we needed. The host was very knowledgeable about the area and was very relaxed and helpful. We took the dog (a first for us) and it was good not to be worried about her. There are some local places to eat and drink, and Berwick is very close.

Well placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coast and Scottish Border Region. A characterful property with a lovely garden. However in cold weather the bathroom is an ordeal to go into and the wall mounted fan heater did not work despite a visit from an electrician. The kitchen needs an extracter fan as steam builds up rapidly when it is too cold or wet to open a window. The gaps round the front door were unbelievable, desperately needing insulation. Needless to say inside the front door was like a fridge, just like the bathroom. Sorry to sound so negative, but this property could be a little gem with modern insulation and heating.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry the visit to the cottage was a disappointment. It was a cold miserable week but I did offer to light the woodstove for these guests which would have considerably warmed up the whole cottage. An electrician was called and he considered it adequate. There were 4 plug in heaters in situ. I am reviewing the heating arrangements and a heating expert came last week to advise. An insulation strip has been put round the front door. An unfortunate choice of cottage for their requirements.
