We had such a good time at Fairmaiden. It is a lovely cottage in an ideal location. The beds were really comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Communication with the owner was excellent and she was very helpful. Loved the cake and tea that was there when we arrived. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved "Fairmaiden" It's a bit of a tardis...you can't imagine how it could sleep 5 when you first go in Very comfortable, and snug with the wood burner The littel shop truly DOES have evrything you really need, and the bakery has verything lese 2 pubs in the village (although the hill IS steep, you are very close to the bottom, so it's not much of a drama going down or coming back up The ferry works really well (although it's not cheap!) and so youhave the delights of Fowey on tap as well (If you go, I would recoomend "Sam's" to eat..Probably the best mussels I have ever eaten!) Would love to come back...

We had a nice relaxing week. Every day we had walks from the door with the dogs . The scenery from the high walks was stunning, the weather helped. We had fires every night which helped my fitness carrying the logs from the bottom shop. The cottage was very clean and everything we needed was available.

Fairmaiden is a smashing cottage, very comfortable and very well equipped with two bathrooms and a fabulously well organised kitchen. There's a really good selection of reading matter in the cottage - lots of du Maurier (a local legend). The charming courtyard garden would have been well used but for the weather. Fowey (which has good pubs and shops) is a short trip by ferry away or you can follow the Hall Walk to Bodinnick and take the car ferry from there. The foot ferry seems to run frequently and all day. Polruan is quiet, but has a great cafe (Crumpets - super breakfasts), an amazing shop that appears to have everything (fruit and veg, tinned anchovies, a good range of wine, milk, etc. etc.), and, currently, a couple of pubs - although they may be seeking new managers, we understand. Parking, which we thought might be a challenge, was straightforward - the carpark at the top of the hill charges £25 for the week and you come and go as often as you like. As well as walking to Bodinnick, you can follow the coastal path (from the carpark) towards Polperro. Communication from the owner was excellent.

The owner of the cottage was fabulous and text us to wish us a nice holiday etc. She was very warm and welcoming. We arrived to a lovely cake and some milk for tea and coffee. The cottage was charming and right by the harbour to get the ferry over to Fowey. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanted to stay in a lovely quiet Cornish cottage in a quaint village

The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable, we felt at home straight away, the cake waiting for us on arrival was a lovely touch. The location is excellent, the local store is just down the road. The views from the village are breathtaking. Fowey, which is just a two-minute-ferry-ride away has many coffee stops, a great choice of restaurants and many galleries and it's a two-minute-ferry-ride away.

THIS WAS A LOVELY COTTAGE NESTLED IN POLRUAN. THE HILL WAS VERY STEEP AND NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE FRAIL OR THOSE WITH POOR MOBILITY. IF YOU WANT TO DINE IN "THE LUGGER INN" THEN YOU HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT.

Fairmaiden cottage is lovely converted fishman's cottage. It retains many of it's charming original features but is tastefully modernised. Its location is ideal as it's near the local shop and a short walk from the 2 village pubs and the harbour where you can catch the ferry to Fowey. Its small enclosed courtyard is perfect suntrap in the afternoon and ideal for a BBQ or a lazy breakfast. Word of caution. The village is set on a steep hill with no parking at the cottage. It wouldn't suit people with limitations on their movement as it's a stiff climb up and down the hill.

Fairmaiden is a lovely traditional cottage in the picturesque village of Polruan by the River Fowey, opposite the town of Fowey. The area is incredibly beautiful. Polruan has two good pubs, a cafe, a bakery and two well stocked general stores. A nearby foot ferry or a local car ferry makes access to vibrant Fowey very easy and enjoyable. Fairmaiden is very clean and comfortable and we found all arrangements to be helpful and straight forward. Polruan, like most Cornwall fishing villages, is steep but we did not find this or parking to be a problem. We parked at the top of the village with the delightful advantage the higher you go in the village the more of the lovely scenery you can see. Perfect.
