Down a farm track, barn conversion ideal for larger groups of friends and family, with open fires and games room.

In lovely surroundings of peaceful open countryside, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this award-winning, detached barn conversion, with its own small garden, is built around a cobbled courtyard and reached by a ¾-mile long farm track. Ingenious design has retained the barn’s unique character, while creating very spacious and well-equipped accommodation, ideal for holidays at any time of year. Set away from the farmyard, it is surrounded by farmland where sheep and cows quietly graze. There are wonderful walks straight from the door, with the fells and mighty Ingleborough in sight. At Ingleton (6 miles), there are miles of paths with steps and bridges along a wooded valley where waterfalls abound, and nearby White Scar Caves display classic features of limestone caverns. The very pretty market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just 4 miles away, offering shops, inns, restaurants and a golf course.
Cowder Barn is ideally located between two National Parks – the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District – both within easy touring distance and offering some of England’s most dramatic scenery. Rushing rivers flow down the main dales of Wensleydale, Swaledale and Wharfedale, surrounded by the high peaks of the Pennines, and high waterfalls, such as Hardraw Force near Hawes, make spectacular sights. Everywhere grey-stone villages blend effortlessly into an unspoilt landscape. The Lakes offer a land of exciting contrasts – high mountains and deep lakes in an ever-changing array of colours. Fishing and water sports can be enjoyed, or for the less energetic, sheepdog trials, Cumberland wrestling and fell races make good spectator sports. The coast is easily accessible, with the wide sandy beach at Morecambe only 16 miles away. Shops 4 miles, pub 1 mile.

Overall very good whilst the location was good it was too far off the beaten track to take full advantage without having to go everywhere using the car.

Good, clean property in a great location. Track to the house has been improved from previous years. One minor point- a plastic chair would be useful in the disabled shower.

Overall, we had a superb weekend, the barn was excellent, games room, kitchen and sitting room my favourites. The overall impression was of comfort and spaciousness Drawbacks, shower in our bathroom was a trickle and the beds/mattresses could do with an upgrade but these are minor quibbles. Main problem is the access to the property. While I appreciate its on a farm, the road needs repair soon before it becomes undriveable

An excellant place to stay. Nice and warm once we got log fires going, ample wood for duration of our stay. Only drawback was the pot-holed access road, which could do with a bit of attention. Definately on our list for a re-visit.

Cowdber Barn was brilliant! There were perfect directions to find it and it was far enough away to give you complete privacy and quiet. The barn conversion was done wth great care and the result is fantastic. There was everything we needed and upmost comfort in the living areas. It was very cold outside but we kept toasty warm by the fires in the kitchen and in the lounge area. The games room was very cold and we didn't use it but we could have started the wood burner up there and made it warm enough, we just ran out of time because we only stayed two nights. The local pub - The Highwayman was very welcoming and the staff went out of their way to please us and were fantastic. There were 7 of us staying and we could have fit anothter 5 at least! Lots of space, lovely views, easy to get to - all good!

We had a lovely time but because it was so cold outside the kitchen and also the play room were very cold and the woodburing stoves were not very effective. Apart from that it was fabulous. There were flowers and biscuits for us on arrival which was a lovely touch.
