A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Down a farm track, this barn conversion has an open fire and games room, perfect for large family groups.

In lovely surroundings of peaceful open countryside, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this award-winning, detached barn conversion, with its own small garden, is built around a cobbled courtyard and reached by a ¾-mile long farm track. Ingenious design has retained the barn’s unique character, while creating very spacious and well-equipped accommodation, ideal for holidays at any time of year. Set away from the farmyard, it is surrounded by farmland where sheep and cows quietly graze. There are wonderful walks straight from the door, with the fells and mighty Ingleborough in sight. At Ingleton (6 miles), there are miles of paths with steps and bridges along a wooded valley where waterfalls abound, and nearby White Scar Caves display classic features of limestone caverns. The very pretty market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just 4 miles away, offering shops, inns, restaurants and a golf course.
Cowder Barn is ideally located between two National Parks – the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District – both within easy touring distance and offering some of England’s most dramatic scenery. Rushing rivers flow down the main dales of Wensleydale, Swaledale and Wharfedale, surrounded by the high peaks of the Pennines, and high waterfalls, such as Hardraw Force near Hawes, make spectacular sights. Everywhere grey-stone villages blend effortlessly into an unspoilt landscape. The Lakes offer a land of exciting contrasts – high mountains and deep lakes in an ever-changing array of colours. Fishing and water sports can be enjoyed, or for the less energetic, sheepdog trials, Cumberland wrestling and fell races make good spectator sports. The coast is easily accessible, with the wide sandy beach at Morecambe only 16 miles away. Shops 4 miles, pub 1 mile.

First floor: Games room with table tennis, pool table, darts and wood-burning stove.

A very spacious property with plenty of amenities, a very quiet location only downside was track leading to property in need of levelling. Definetly look to stay here again in the near future

Beautiful barn, warm and cosy. Easily accommodated 2 families, and a large dog, with ample rooms so that we all still had our own space. The children loved the games room!

We loved our stay, the cottage is huge the photos do not do it justice. A very well equipped place, only complaint would be the track to the property.

Lovely barn, secluded location. Unbeleivably spacious, comfy beds, very warm and homely. Needs a little updating but extremely good value for money.

This is our third stay at Chowder Barn, we have enjoyed each stay. There are so many places and walks to explore. It is a great place for all ages.

Immaculate, lovely barn. really well equipped and great for 2 families to meet up at. Along a farm track so really on its own (just the farmhouse nextdoor and we didn't see them at all), with beautiful views across fields of sheep and lambs. Great to have the games room upstairs, so many lounge areas that we never felt on top of each other. Nice walks from the door, and lovely Kirkby Lonsdale 10 minutes drive away, with plenty of amenties and a supermarket. 3 great pubs, one just beyond the farm track and 2 in KL. Lots to do, great location for Yorkshire Dales, Lakes and Morecombe. Definitely recommend and plan to return.

Great place and great location, we really did enjoy our stay here. The drive to the barn is very picturesque and idealic, a 4x4 would have been nice. The sitting room was our favourite place to relax and unwind. As much as we enjoyed I do have some negatives to point out :- 1. Broken dining chairs at table and breakfast bar. Chairs not comfy to sit at. 2. Plug ring main in kitchen blows if you have too many appliances on, not ideal. 3. Separate bathrooms nicely kitted out, only one fitted with a power shower, we all found ourselves waiting to use this one. 4. Cobbled area to exterior uneven and slippy when wet, it was a problem for our elderly parents. 5. Exterior doors looking tired and in need of attention. Don't let the above put you off you will enjoy your stay here and it's good value for money, just hope the owner takes heed.

The barn is huge, much bigger than it looks on the website, with plenty of space to spread out. We had rubbish weather, so it was nice to have a comfortable base to hole up in, although the kitchen in particular did not get very warm (we couldn't get any heat out of the wood burner in there), and the games room was freezing (didn't bother the kids!). There is loads of equipment for cooking and eating and the living room is particularly nice and cosy with the open fire. We'd definitely use it as a base for a family break again.
