    This is a great base for touring north Wales, and just a few minutes’ drive away is historic Conwy with its almost complete town walls, merchants houses and quay, offering boat trips. Bodnant Gardens is another place worth visiting, or for the more adventurous, try the Zip Wire, one of the country’s longest zip wires.

    Betws y Coed and Swallow Falls are not to be missed, or why not take the train journey up Mount Snowdon?
