Fishing holiday cottages in Pembrokeshire can be on the coast with a sea view, more rural but walking distance to a pub or perhaps with a hot tub and part of our luxury collection. Due to the influence of the Gulf Stream the county has a relatively temperate climate attracting birds, wildlife so ideal for those who love fishing. In fact there can be few places to rival Pembrokeshire for the quality and variety of its all year round angling opportunities and the beauty of the scenery.
If you want to head out to sea there are boat charters running out of Tenby, Pembroke Harbour and Haverfordwest. They are family friendly and ideal for experts and novices alike, you can sometimes catch sharks and rays. The non-fishers on board can enjoy the sunshine, wonderful scenery and wildlife. You can also hire boats from most of Pembrokeshire’s coastal harbours during the summer months when mackerel fishing is very popular and productive, perfect if self-catering.
Holiday cottages with fishing in Pembrokeshire can be near charming towns and villages. The St David’s Peninsula with St David’s, the smallest city in Britain, is the jewel in the crown. All around the headland are gorgeous beaches and rocky inlets to catch pollack with congers lurking in the depths plus many more species. The coastal path is stunning, look out for seals, dolphins, porpoises and amazing bird life. You can head back to one of the towns gastro pubs in the evening to discuss the ‘catch of the day’.
For those who like river fishing upstream of Haverfordwest on the Cleddau is a great stretch to catch migratory fish with some very productive pools in unspoilt natural surroundings. You may also spot otters, kingfishers, herons, ducks and dragonfly. The River Nevern with its source in the beautiful and unspoilt Preseli Hills has sea trout from May and salmon from August to the end of the season in October.
If you like to catch good sized bass, Monkstone Point between Suandersfoot and Tenby, is a good rock mark or for somewhere more sheltered the inner breakwater at Fishguard is ideal. You can catch dogfish, pouting, flatfish, whiting, wrasse, bass and mackerel in season, winter you may catch cod.
We have barely scratched the surface of extraordinary Pembrokeshire, we strongly suggest you book a self-catering cottage and have the best fishing holiday of your life plus lots of fun for everyone going.
