Scotland Cottages

With its wildly spectacular countryside, historic cities and long and varied coastline, Scotland has much to offer in a self-catering holiday, including deserted sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and countless islands. Choosing one of our seaside cottages in Scotland will truly give you a holiday packed with experiences you will remember for a lifetime.

A cottage holiday in Southern Scotland truly offers the best of both worlds, combining a city and seaside break. The region’s attractive coastline is in easy reach of the historic cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Both coastlines include many opportunities for water sports and marine animal safaris, as well as days of sandcastles, picnics and paddling on the region’s beaches. To truly get away from it all, take your holiday on one of the beautiful islands such as the Isles of Arran and Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde, which offer panoramic sea views. From the highest point of Arran, you can even see the coast of Ireland on a clear day.

The beauty of central Scotland is simply breath taking. The coast of Argyll is full of inlets and sea lochs, all best explored from a sailing boat or kayak. Off the coast are a number of islands, including the island of Mull. In the waters around the island, keep your eyes open to spot seals, dolphins, whales and basking sharks, all of which feed in the area. The history of the region is equally fascinating. The Battle of Bannockburn was fought in Stirlingshire, helping to shape the nature of Scotland’s history, while Scone in Perthshire was once the home of the famous Stone of Destiny and was the crowning place of Scotland’s kings.

In Northern Scotland, you will find the heather clad hills of the picture postcard Scottish Highlands, with glistening lochs lying at the foot of towering mountains, including the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis. Hundreds of islands lie off the coast of Northern Scotland, many with deserted white sand beaches and perfect conditions for sailing, surfing and wind surfing. Choose from the easily accessible Isle of Skye or head to the far west and the Outer Hebrides or north to the fascinating Orkney Islands with their intriguing prehistoric remains.

Scotland is a welcoming country where pubs and restaurants will be proud to show off their menus, many reflecting the delicious local produce, including seafood caught that morning in sea lochs and the ocean, best enjoyed with local ales and whiskies distilled across the country.
