Dublin, the capital city, is small compared to some capitals, but the joy of this is that everything is in a nice, easy walking distance. Here, you can experience some great nightlife in the Temple Bar district, plenty of shopping opportunities and, of course, some great pubs to enjoy a Guinness or two – something that should not be missed when visiting Ireland.
Those looking to get back to nature can enjoy the 180km trail known as the Ring of Kerry in County Kerry. With landmarks along the way, such as Killarney National Park and Ross Castle, it makes a lovely scenic drive. If you are feeling energetic, then you can hike the Kerry Way – it takes about nine days but is well worth the effort.
Luxury holiday cottages can be found in County Waterford, made famous by its crystal glass, or County South Tipperary, where you can visit the Rock of Cashel. The must-see Cashel Folk Village has been built as an old Irish village reconstruction and includes a blacksmith, traditional thatched cottages and a range of shops. While you are in Ireland, why not visit Aran, made famous for its wool, and opt to stay in a beautiful rural cottage out in the countryside? The Aran Islands are unspoilt and perfect for a peaceful break.
One thing you can’t avoid in Ireland is open spaces and gorgeous gardens, so consider a trip to the John F Kennedy Arboretum when spending time in County Wexford. Popular with picnickers, it is a lovely place for a walk. If you want more, then Wexford also has the Irish National Heritage Park, which boasts over 35 acres to explore. There is over 9000 years’ worth of history to be found here and plenty to keep your interest. Other attractions include a Viking house and a ringfort.
Ireland is a remarkable place that has something for everyone, and with our range of luxury cottages, you are sure to find the perfect setting for your romantic holiday, family getaway or short break.
