2017 offers a wealth of events to do all over the country with your dog and we’ve sniffed out some of the best, from the Scottish Borders to Cornish Coast! They’re sure to get that tail wagging.
Cornwall is home to a number of events, Camborne Show is a traditional agricultural show, which takes place in summer on Saturday 15th July 2017, with programs on the day fun for all the family. The Fun Pet Dog Show is very popular with all dog enthusiasts.
Also in Cornwall every August Bank Holiday (27th August 2017). The Cornwall Young Farmers’ Club holds a Cornish Country Fair at Stitians Showground, it hold traditional country fair events as well as gundog displays, a dog show and Lurcher and Terrier displays.
The Lake District sees the Lakeland Country Fair showcase traditional skills and activities from the county, with plenty of canine activities and a family dog show with classes from ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘dog the judge would like to take home’. The show takes place on Sunday 20th August 2017.
Norfolk is All About Dogs! Billed as ‘an event organised by dog lovers for dog lovers’. The show is hosted at the Norfolk Showground on the 27th and 28th August 2017. An action packed event with entertainment for all whether you’re on two legs or four. You’ll find all sorts of shows and displays, have-a-go events, stands and advice, it really is one fur all.
September finds the Sandringham Game & Country Show take place at Sandringham Estate on the 9th and 10th 2017. The show includes an area dedicated solely to dogs called 'World of Dogs', there is also a range of events on both days including fun shows, Lurchers and Terriers, gundog multi scurries and training clinics.
Shepherds Walks hosts a number of challenge walks in Northumberland between May and September. Take your dog on a trek ranging from 13 1/2 miles to 26 miles through stunning Northumbrian landscapes. 1st May 2017 sees the Northumberland Coastal Challenge Walk, on Saturday 24th June you can take part in a guided or self-guided Challenge Walk through Coquet Valley, St Cuthberts Way Challenge Walk, takes place on Saturday 12th August and is also guided or self-guided and finally on 2nd September you can try the Kielder Challenge Walk.
Pembrokeshire County Show, at County Showground takes place on the 15th, 16th & 17th August 2017. The event is described as ‘where town meets country’ and you can find dogs shows and agility competitions, as well as much more here.
Visiting the Scottish borders? Head to Traquair for a special doggy event – A dogs day out on July 16th. Enjoy fun activities, demos, displays and competitions plus doggy treat and organised walks.
Yorkshire hosts the Sheep dog show, which takes place on renowned handler Richard Fawcetts farm near Hawes, Upper Wensleydale. You can learn about the work, training and trails of sheep dogs. They run every Thursday from May to August at 6.30pm & September to October at 2.30pm. Lots to keep both the young and old entertained.
