When you require a real get away, a touch of class can often be all that is needed to make it feel like a genuine holiday rather than an experience much the same as being at home. Our luxury cottages in the UK and France, amongst other areas, provide a true taste of paradise, allowing you to truly relax and forget about the everyday stresses of life.
One such region where you will be able to stay in luxury cottages in comfort and style is Pas-de-Calais, a coastal region in the northern part of France.
Arras is the capital of the Artois region and is the place for travellers intent on getting some culture whilst on holiday, as this where the Musée des Beaux-Arts can be found. This museum houses a collection of impressive paintings and sculpture in a former abbey.
Not far from the museum is the 18th century Arras Cathedral, the stunning neoclassical ex-abbey church of Saint-Vaast that is well worth a visit.
A number of medieval ramparts dating back to the 17th century can be viewed near Montreuil which also served as headquarters for the British army in France during World War I.
For many travellers from the UK, Calais will be the first point they step foot on French soil if they arrive via the Eurotunnel or ferry. The Hôtel de Ville is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the town centre and there are many more monuments of note in the vicinity.
Dunkerque is another arrival point in France from England, albeit by ferry rather than train. It also attracts tourists who enjoy a bit of a party, as it is where the annual Dunkirk Carnival takes place in February and March.
The seaside resort of Boulogne-Sur-Mer is not only picturesque, it is also important as the Palais de Justice (law courts) building is there, as is the Nausicaa Centre National de la Mer, a sea museum that displays plant life as well as having thousands of fish in its aquariums.
Our luxury cottages to rent in Pas-de-Calais perfectly blend into the surroundings, so that you can feel as though you are at a home away from home, rather than standing out and feeling like a tourist. Our self-catering accommodation gives you the ability to set your own schedule and enjoy your holiday in France at your leisure.
