This area is perhaps most famous as a playground for the rich and famous but there is also a great choice of fishing cottages in Cote d’Azur. By using the extensive feature list you can easily find your perfect one such as coastal with a sea view, private swimming pool or perhaps part of our luxury collection, the choice really is yours.
Fishing holiday cottages in Cote d’Azur can be near to some lovely venues, coastal as well as inland, so there is plenty to do for those not quite so keen on fishing. You can fish in fresh water rivers, the lakes and dams of the Riviera as well as sea fishing off the coast or head further out, 30-40 nautical miles, for the best deep sea angling.
Those who like to be by the coast can head for Antibes, Cannes or Ste-Maxine, also perfect for the anglers, one of Picasso’s most famous paintings is ‘Night fishing at Antibes’, need we say anymore. For the non-anglers these are lovely places to visit, they can either spend the day on the golden sandy beaches or venture into the lively towns. Sea boat charters run out of the harbour towns and some double up as wildlife trips so all the family can go. Try a sea fishing trip from Frejus, everyone can try the fishing with tackle, bait and instruction on hand as well as an aperitif and seafood served on board. Whether you catch anything or not you will be in for a great day out. Go out to sea at night in search of squid and barracuda for a totally different experience.
There are many holiday cottages with fishing in Cote d’Azur close to gushing rivers and scenic lakes. This type of fishing is very popular but carefully managed for ecological reasons. You do need a permit but you can easily get one to cover you for 15 days consecutive fishing. The fast flowing river L’Issole and Verdon are spectacular destinations for fly fishing and the Ceze river is good for carp, pike, bleak and roach.
A stunning location is Castillon Lake at 800m high in the Verdon Regional Nature Park, 8km long and a magnificent stretch of emerald green water. As well as fishing from the shore there are boating centres and launches at Saint-Julien du Verdon and Saint Andre Les Alpes. Walkers can enjoy some magical trails; this is a perfect place for everyone. You can also fish on Esparron and Quinson lakes and test your skill against game fish such as pike, perch and trout.
This is a truly wonderful area to explore and fish; we have barely scratched the surface and haven’t even mentioned real gems like Grasse, Menton and St Tropez. A self-catering gite or villa is the very best way to enjoy this very special part of France and try a bit of what you fancy.
