France Cottages

France has over 2,000 miles of coastline, so it’s safe to say that if you’re looking for a holiday by the sea, then France is a good place to start. Better yet, France is so large as a country and boasts such varied landscape that there’s something for everyone, whether you want the wild Atlantic coast, small maritime towns or the glamour of the Riviera. If you’re thinking of holidaying on the French coast but are having trouble narrowing down your options – there are so many after all! – then start by taking a look at the great range of coastal cottages we have in France.

Regardless of whether you’re travelling with family or friends, or looking for something a little more romantic for the two of you, we’re sure to have just what you’re after when it comes to cottages by the sea in France. From a classic French villa in the Cote d’Azur to a home with views of the marina and a private mooring in Languedoc-Roussillon, a traditional stone cottage in Brittany and a stunningly renovated shepherd’s hut in Corsica, complete with swimming pools and panoramic views of the Mediterranean, we really do have it all when it comes to French coastal cottages.

If you’re looking for sun, sea and sand then you can hardly do better than the South of France, which has been famous as a holiday destination for decades. Here, the glamour of the Riviera never really fades, and although it can get a little chillier than you might expect in winter, the sun shines most days, giving visitors some much-needed vitamin D in the long winter months. Head to Nice, St Tropez, Cannes or Montpellier and you’ll be met by a combination of cosmopolitanism, chic locals, delectable cuisine and beautiful seafronts. The beaches get phenomenally busy in these areas, but for good reason; there’s nowhere quite like the Riviera in summer.

Completely different but no less beguiling than Southern France are the northwest coastal areas of Brittany and Normandy. Sometimes overlooked as tourists whizz past on their way south, the beaches of this region definitely deserve a closer look and further exploration; better yet, they’re also very easily accessible from the UK. Here, seafood is eaten fresh from the boat, cider is made from apples from their many orchards, tiny islands are often car free, and the harbour-side towns are picture-postcard pretty.
