The Yorkshire Dales National Park was formed in 1954, in recognition of its outstanding natural beauty. Encompassing a vast 841 square miles, the Park straddles the central Penines in North Yorkshire and Cumbria and a small part of Lancashire. The Dales are not only a wilderness area but a living working environment that is home to over 24,000 people. It has some 2,628 km of footpaths and 618 km of bridleways for ramblers and walkers to enjoy.

With its own three Peaks thousands of walkers take up the challenge of completing the 24.5-mile circular route. For more family-friendly fun, head to one of the many outdoor activities available. From wildlife parks and bird gardens to guided boat trips on the River Ouse. There is a large Waterski and Aqua Park that is the perfect spot for wakeboarding or lessons in water skiing.
