Further South in the county is Wansford Trout and Coarse Fishery, a picturesque setting in the Yorkshire Wolds. There is a unique running water trout lake fed by the Driffield canal and a coarse pond, both of a high standard and well stocked. Driffield is a thriving market town and knows as the capital of the Wolds. Hikers can enjoy lovely marked walks in the Wolds.
There’s some wonderful fishing in the Yorkshire Dales on rivers, well stocked coarse lakes and large reservoirs. At the top of Wensleydale near Hawes there is 15 miles of double bank fishing on the River Ure noted for brown trout and grayling. Not far from Middleham on the downstream end of the meadow on the Leyburn side of the bridge is a nice deep stretch good for coarse fishing.
