With a fantastic choice of fishing cottages in Yorkshire and so much to do and see for everyone you really can’t go wrong choosing a holiday in this magnificent county, often known as ‘God’s Own county with the white rose as its emblem. By using our extensive feature list you can easily find your perfect cottage, detached with an enclosed garden if taking young children or pets, perhaps near the coast with a sea view or part of our luxury collection.

The choice really is yours and you can also search for fishing holiday cottages in Yorkshire with fishing nearby. With a wonderful coastline you can head for Scarborough or Whitby and fishing from harbour walls, the pier or the beach where you can catch cod and whiting in winter, mackerel, coalfish and flat fish in summer. They both have a quality sea fishing heritage with many boat charters for the sea anglers or the wildlife spotters. Go further south and jump aboard in Filey or maybe Bridlington, a forgotten gem with an-old world harbour, golden sandy beaches and a relaxing promenade.

If you want to be near York go to Redwood Park with 4 fishing lakes each providing a unique pleasure fishing experience all year round. For the non-anglers a day out in York awaits, you’ll fall in love with the city the moment you arrive. Rich in ancient history, quaint cobbled streets, York Minster, a vibrant café culture and end the day having a relaxing drink by the river discussing the ‘catch of the day’. There are some lovely holiday cottages with fishing in Yorkshire near the city, very popular and people return after year.

Pickering on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors has still, lakes, ponds and moving water nearby. Wykeham Lakes is the biggest fishery in the area and includes a trout lake and for the beginners Buzzers Pond has a very good head of fish with a high catch success rate.

Further South in the county is Wansford Trout and Coarse Fishery, a picturesque setting in the Yorkshire Wolds. There is a unique running water trout lake fed by the Driffield canal and a coarse pond, both of a high standard and well stocked. Driffield is a thriving market town and knows as the capital of the Wolds. Hikers can enjoy lovely marked walks in the Wolds.

There’s some wonderful fishing in the Yorkshire Dales on rivers, well stocked coarse lakes and large reservoirs. At the top of Wensleydale near Hawes there is 15 miles of double bank fishing on the River Ure noted for brown trout and grayling. Not far from Middleham on the downstream end of the meadow on the Leyburn side of the bridge is a nice deep stretch good for coarse fishing.
