With vales, wolds, forests and fens, Lincolnshire is a paradise for fans of the Great Outdoors. Cottages with pools in Lincolnshire will bring you closer to nature and offer an unparalleled view of this huge county, where you can be riding a rollercoaster by the beach one day, and drinking tea on a hilltop the next.
To fully experience the countryside, choose a cottage with a private pool near Market Rasen, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. This little town is almost completely surrounded by pristine hills, meadows and rivers, and it is the starting point for dozens of beautiful walks. On the other side of The Wolds, the foodie town of Louth is also well connected, with easy access to the AONB to the west, and the Lincolnshire coast to the east.
Holiday cottages with pools near the coast will fit right in with the resort atmosphere of Skegness, with its rollercoasters, amusement parks, and retro entertainment. The beaches of Skegness are often used to host major music festivals and sporting events, as well as the traditional donkey rides and water sports, and during the summer months the holiday atmosphere is contagious! However, if you like your beaches to come with less deckchairs, head north towards Mablethorpe – a pretty, sandy beach which boasts a mini waterpark and a seal sanctuary. Towards the southern coast of the county, the town of Boston offers direct access to The Wash National Nature Reserve, and the Norfolk coastline further south.
The city of Lincoln sits in the heart of the county and holds one of the most impressive cathedrals in the country, as well as some perfectly preserved medieval homes. To get a sense of the wider history of the county, choose a cottage with a swimming pool near the market towns of Grantham or Horncastle, which have both been inhabited since the Roman era.
Lincolnshire offers a vast array of different sights, all of which are the perfect match for a cottage vacation.
