Brook
Nestled just inside the lush green of the New Forest National Park is the small hamlet of Brook. A higgledy piggledy mix of 18th and 19th century cottages, Brook serves as an idyllic base for your New Forest getaway.

Brook may be small, but it is packed full of character. You can relax in comfort in one of the two 18th century inns for a quiet drink, or perhaps enjoy a relaxing round of golf at the oldest golf club in Hampshire, Bramshaw Golf Club.

If you venture south of the village, you will find the historic Rufus Stone at Lower Canterton. The Rufus Stone is believed to mark the spot that the King of England, William Rufus, was shot by a rogue arrow whilst hunting in 1100. Although the arrow was known to have been fired by Walter Tyrell, a French nobleman, it was never known whether it had been accidental or a sinister assassination.

Of course if you were to holiday in Brook, it is unlikely that your visit would be confined to the village. As it is ideally placed in the New Forest, there are many beautiful walks and cycle ways for you to explore, including perhaps climbing to the summit of Stagbury Hill. Stagbury Hill is the highest point in the New Forest and is renowned for its breathtaking views across the National Park and beyond; on a clear day you can see all of the way down to Southampton!

As well as the ancient woodland and the spectacular countryside, the New Forest is close to one of England’s most famous and certainly most magical landmarks, Stonehenge, and the spectacular cathedral city of Salisbury is also nearby.

After exploring the New Forest and beyond, Brook provides a picturesque and peaceful place to rest your weary bones ready for the next day''s adventure. Start planning your New Forest break today: search Brook holiday cottages.
