Lyme Regis is situated on Dorset’s dramatic Jurassic Coast and is the perfect cottage holiday location for exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Often called the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, Lyme Regis is well-known for its beautiful coastal views, historic 14th century old town, harbour and excellent beaches. The town is situated in West Dorset close to the Devon border and is ideally placed for exploring both these counties and of course the spectacular Jurassic Coast. Guided fossil walks are available which will explain why the area has gained World Heritage status for its geological importance, or for a bit of fun with the kids join the Smugglers'' Trail.
Combine a relaxing holiday on the beach with great days out; for example follow in the footsteps of Jane Austin and the characters of her novel Persuasion, take a look around River Cottage HQ or pay a visit to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s restaurant in nearby Axminster. Maybe see the filming locations for the film ‘The French Lieutenant''s Woman’ or visit the Marine Aquarium.
The area’s has clean, safe beaches which attract windsurfers and water skiers, leisure boat trips and sea angling trips are available, and there’s easy access to beautiful coastal walks following the South West Coastal Path and at the National Nature Reserve at Undercliff.
