Cornwall Cottages

With its famously independent spirit, Cornwall’s history has often been fraught, but that’s what makes it so fascinating and such an excellent choice for historical holidays. With our inspiring range of heritage cottages in Cornwall, you can not only spend time in the county getting to know its history and landscapes but also live the history itself by staying in unique, beautifully decorated cottages in areas such as Bodmin, Boscastle, Bude, Callington and the Tamar Valley, Camelford, Crackington Haven, Hayle, Kingsand and Cawsand, Launceston, Looe, Lostwithie, Marazion, Mevagissey, Nelwyn, Padstow, Penzance, Perranporth, Polperro, Port Isaac, Porthtowan, Portreath, Saltash, Sennen, St Agnes, St Columb Manor, St Just, Tintagel, Truro and the Roseland Peninsula and Wadebridge.

Cornwall’s many charms have been attracting holidaymakers for centuries. Whether holidaying in quaint Mousehoule, getting to know the county’s more creative side in St Ives or exploring the coastline in Newquay and Fowey, Cornwall is England’s quintessential summer holiday destination. However, it is just as picturesque, and not to mention quieter, in the autumn and winter, when traffic dies down and long blustery walks on the beach can be topped off by huddling round the fire with a hot toddy in one of our historic cottages in Cornwall.

For something really special when visiting South West England, historical holidays in Cornwall can include stays in a grade II-listed stone cottage near St Austell that dates back to 1066 and is within a ten-minute drive of the beach as well as a barn conversion complete with traditional wooden beams near Liskeard, a whitewashed traditional cob cottage close to Falmouth and some quayside cottages in Fowey.

Cornwall is home to some truly remarkable historical sites. In fact, its rich industrial history has recently been honoured with the Cornish Mining UNESCO World Heritage Site, which marks the importance of mining to the area and helps inform visitors about the influence that mining and its subsequent decline had on Cornwall and the world. There are also plenty of castles to explore in Cornwall, from Restormel in Lostwithiel to St Mawes Castle, which overlooks the town of the same name as well as the sea and was built by Henry VIII to protect the coast. There’s practically a castle around every corner.

Whether you’re getting to know Cornwall’s rich mining history, walking its ancient pathways, exploring the many majestic castles and manor houses that dot its landscape or just setting down for a lunch in one of its excellent country or harbourside pubs, you’ll be happy to return to your cottage at the end of the day. Our historic holiday cottages in Cornwall are sure to make your stay one to remember, whether you’re looking forward to spending time with your bucket and spade down on the beach or hoping to walk as much of Helston and the Lizard Peninsula as possible.
