History enthusiasts can venture to Bude Castle and Heritage Centre, once home to Sir Goldsworthy Gurney the inventor of the Steam Carriage. The building is now home to displays and exhibitions relating to the history of Bude and local area plus an interesting ‘Titanic’ connection. The cafe is definitely worth a visit and boasts stunning views across Summerleaze beach.

On the north side of Bude is Crooklets Beach which can be reached by a short walk down the hill from the town centre. This is popular with surfers and also home to the Bude Surf Life Saving Club, the beach is patrolled between 19th May to 30th September. With great facilities including a play area, skate park, beach cafe, showers and pub nearby it is perfect to spend a sunny day.
