East Anglia Cottages

East Anglia includes Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, a perfect place to go any time of the year on a self -catering holiday. It has just about everything, 500 miles of beautiful coastline, as well as gorgeous countryside and forests. Cambridgeshire has wonderful things to do and see including the ancient university city of Cambridge. The whole place is alive with learned students and shoppers with bags full of designer clothes passing each other on cobbled streets. Grand architecture, museums and galleries, parks and gardens are mixed up with trendy cafes, restaurants and bars. Further out from the city you will find tranquil waterways, rolling countryside, magnificent cathedrals and grand stately homes plus historic market towns, quaint villages and a great choice of holiday cottages.

A county that has inspired artists, musicians and writers for centuries is Essex. A diverse landscape which combines miles of coastline with traditional seaside resorts and wide open countryside sprinkled with picturesque towns and villages. Set off on strenuous hikes or leisurely walks, choose from a variety of outdoor activities or perhaps relax in a quiet corner on the beach. For the culture buffs you can explore historic buildings, art galleries and much more. For the shoppers there is the famous Lakeside shopping complex or the quirky independent shops found in many of the lovely small towns.

Norfolk has been strategic during our turbulent history and all the castles, cathedrals and stately homes pay homage to this, nowadays they are a real draw for tourists. Along the coast are quintessential seaside resorts, Victorian in origin with many grand architectural features including far reaching piers, you will feel as though you have gone back in time over one hundred years. Inland are gorgeous market towns and villages just waiting to be discovered. Add to this the stunning Norfolk Broads which are the country’s largest protected wetland area and a paradise for wildlife, nature and visitors.

Now Suffolk is certainly a place to unwind and quietly discover delightful hidden gems. It’s filled with unspoilt beautiful countryside, 50 miles of stunning coastline and glorious skies hence a magnet for artists and writers for many years. As well as being Constable Country it is known as the home of horse racing and has a rich maritime history. Foodies will love the farmers markets selling home grown produce as well as the gastro pubs serving local specialities.
