We enjoyed our holiday in Cornwall. Beautiful place. Just a shame that we didn't enjoying staying at the lodge very much. We were going to pop to the local shop and thought it would be ok to leave our extremely trustworthy and docile dog at the lodge for 30 mins. The owner was walking up and down doing his usual daily checks on everyone and noticed we had no dog so went around our lodge to look in the windows and then told us to not leave the dog behind in an unfriendly manner. We completely understand why and that they are strict on that which is absolutely fine and we wouldn't have done so again knowing how they felt, however, we were constantly watched after that by him walking up and down. Every time we packed the car to go out, he appeared and then went into the lodge opposite to talk to people he obviously knew. Whenever we opened the curtains, the opposite lodge seemed to be looking out so we closed them again. We also saw him walking up and down and talking to other lodges. One of us popped out in the car to get a chinese one night at 8.30 and he appeared walking past our patio doors which made us jump and dash to close the curtains. There was no where for him to be walking to as there is other access to the camping field without having to pass our patio doors. We all felt very uncomfortable there. The opposite lodge who seem to know the owners is very close and the campers are very close outside the bedroom Windows so you can easily be woken up or kept awake by their noise. Love Cornwall but wouldn't come back here again. There are better ways to treat and communicate with guests. The actual lodge was fine, comfortable and clean and there are lovely places around to visit. Just a shame the holiday was a little spoilt.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry you didn’t enjoy staying with us in August. Our customers are made aware at the time of booking in the terms and conditions, by email a week before by us with other essential information and on notices in the Lodges that dogs are not to be left unattended at any time. In August we are very busy and I am on site most of the day cleaning, gardening, tidying, seeing in new campers and saying goodbye to people leaving. I also spend lot of time chatting to people in the lodges and campsite many of whom ask for advice and tips of good places to eat and visit and drinking the occasional cup of coffee... as a lot of our visitors are regular holidaymakers and come frequently. We also are aware that some people do not wish to talk which we also fully respect. This is the reason we were around more and you probably saw me when you went out. I apologise if you were startled on the evening you mentioned. I was walking on the open grass below the decking around your Lodge looking for a Frisbee that one of the kiddies had lost in the tent behind the hedge. I did wait to do this until nobody was around or so I thought. I did wave but you had shut the curtains. We are a family friendly site and most people chat to each other and pass the time of day, kiddies play together and have a lovely time. The Lodges are a good distance apart and there is a large strip of grass, a fence and hedge between the Lodge and the camping field. If you had spoken to us while staying with us I am sure we could have put your mind at rest and would have enjoyed your holiday more.

Lovely cottage other than strong smell dog urine. Dog owners should be ashamed. Owners tried to cover with strong air fresheners. Everything else was perfect.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for your review.. I can categorically state you must be mistaken as there is no smell of dog urine in the lodge. The carpets were changed this year for the new season.. Occasionally there is a doggy smell after clients with pets have left which in your case was in the same morning. We then deal with by carpet freshener etc..the same as we did after your visit with your dog. If you had spoken to us regarding your concerns we could have clarified this for you.The air freshener reeds left in the Lodge are from St Eval Candle factory and are high quality. As can be seen by our other reviews, previous guests were very happy with no other comments apart from very clean and tidy.
