A warm Welsh welcome, or “Croeso Cynnes” awaits you at Y Gegin Fach; a traditional detached Welsh barn. Nestled on a 130-acre working farm in a picturesque location, the barn has been lovingly restored to a very good standard, retaining all of its original charm and character, and furnished and equipped to excellent standards for that unforgettable holiday experience. This former stable dates back to the 18th century and has original features, including stone walls and oak beams. Y Gegin Fach literally translates as The Little Kitchen, although the kitchen diner is anything but! All around welcoming touches have been added, including contemporary amenities and a blazing wood-burning stove for those cosy evenings in. The owners’ home is close by but they have created a separate lawned garden, with its own barbecue and pizza oven for private use of guests at Y Gegin Fach. You can sit back and relax, where the glistening River Marlais passes, and watch the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery. There are beautiful walks right from the doorstep in these tranquil surroundings and wonderful views of the famous Brecon Beacons, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Wales’ first and only the fifth destination in the world to be granted the status of an international dark sky reserve. Just a stones’ throw away, the Brecon Beacon National Park, is abundant with wildlife, and is home to many walks (tame or challenging) and enchanted sites nestled amongst tumbling waterfalls and rugged countryside. The historic town of Llandeilo is a short drive away and is famous for its award-winning chocolate shop, boutique shopping and elegant restaurants dotted around the town. Discover the county’s historic sites, including Carreg Cennen Castle and Aberglasney Manor & Gardens or explore the Heritage park of Dinefwr and learn the rich history behind its beautiful 12th-century castle, situated amongst a tranquil 800-acre park with wild deer running free. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dan-Yr-Ogof Caves and National Trust Dolaucothi Goldmines (underground tours available) are all within easy reach. Fishing within 5 miles. Beach 30 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

A very warm and friendly welcome from Hugh when we arrived. The cottage was extremely clean with everything we could possibly need including a very generous welcome pack. Views of the Beacons from the rear windows and the owners house the other side of the very quiet lane. The cottage has been finished to a very high standard with two good sized bedrooms upstairs, large living room, bathroom and kitchen/diner downstairs. A log burner in the kitchen with plenty of wood supplied for us. There's plenty to see and do just a short drive away and also great walks up the Beacon hills right from the cottage. There's a large co-op store in Llandeilo a short drive away for everything you need. Highly recommended place to stay.

We stayed over the Xmas period and had a great time, Hugh and Ann are exceptionally welcoming. The cottage was immaculate and also decorated with crackers, lights and a real tree. Theres is lots of land to explore with a lot of wildlife to see. We had a really comfortable and relaxing stay. Warm and cosy from minute we arrived with underfloor heating and log fire. Would definitely recommend and also return.

We had a fabulous holiday here and really felt at home as soon as we arrived. We wanted somewhere remote and this fitted the bill perfectly. The host was very welcoming but left us to enjoy our break. The barn has everything to make your stay comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. Would definitely return.

A perfect, tranquil holiday with everything you need including a DAB radio in the kitchen and a speaker in the living room. The cottage was well equipped and thought given to what guests would like. The garden was a lovely place to relax after exploring and the 'love seat' was great to relax with a glass of wine or a cup of tea. There are so many interesting places to explore nearby. The beds were the best we have ever slept in in a holiday accommodation and the rooms were fantastic. The location was so peaceful and quiet. You can shop in a well equipped Co-Op within 15 minutes. We would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return.
