Once part of an old mill, Y Felin Fach (literally translates to the small mill) is a wonderful cottage in the Pembrokeshire border village of Abercych. The owners have very carefully created a stylish holiday home which is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. Inside, the semi-detached cottage is all on one level and consists of a spacious kitchen/dining room, a large living room with a wood burner, a master bedroom with a kingsize bed, two further single rooms and a family bathroom. Outside there is an inviting patio and covered arbour which leads up some steps to the lawn and beyond, where there is an additional summerhouse, bike storage and parking area.
The peaceful leafy village of Abercych itself sits on the River Cych which flows through the valley, and you can walk to the village pub which serves good food and real ales from local micro-breweries. The nearby and fascinating village of Cenarth is famous for its falls, a series of waterfalls and pools on the River Teifi and a well-known salmon leap. There is a 17th-century flour mill and the National Coracle Centre where you can learn the history of the little canvas covered boats made of willow or ash. There is also a village shop, two pubs and a lovely traditional tea room serving homemade cakes.
There are plenty of woodland walks to enjoy and the nearby Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve offers the opportunity to see the abundant wildlife. As Y Felin Fach is so close to the wonderful counties of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, you really are ideally placed to discover so much. There are nearby ancient castles at Cilgerran and Newcastle Emlyn, the latter being a market town with a range of independent shops. The town of Cardigan, situated at the mouth of the estuary, also has a castle and a good selection of restaurants and cafés, including an Indian restaurant on a boat and a pizza tipi in summer!
If you are in search of beaches, the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coastlines have many to choose from and several are pet friendly year round if you are bringing your family pooch on holiday. The beaches of Poppit Sands and Mwnt are sandy and have car parks and facilities for refreshments. The Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coastal paths have a combined distance of 246 miles so you won’t be short of walking territory, or why not try your hand at coasteering, surfing or paddle boarding, or take a boat trip to observe the dolphins and other wildlife? The family attractions of Pembrokeshire, including Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and Heatherton World of Activities, are within an easy drive, as are the popular resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot.
Whatever you choose to do on your holiday, this area has it all and Y Felin Fach will provide all the comfort you need for a great break. Beach 9 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

We found it excellently equipped, spacious, and very comfortable overall. Substantial welcome pack. Although in a village with other houses all around it still felt quite private, and one could quickly walk away from the roads by heading for the bridge over the ford. Coast was not too far away, also Cilgerran with its castle, and roads OK for Wales.

Lovely cottage, all our needs catered for and more. Fully enclosed garden so no chance of our dog wandering.

We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived with a "welcome pack"of cakes, bread, butter, home made marmalade, milk, wine, flowers and treats for both of our dogs. The cottage was spotless, and very well equipped, with nothing lacking in the kitchen, and useful extras such as a USB charger for several devices, and a small torch. Our only criticism was the low pressure shower, although it was adequate. The cottage is ideal for dog owners, with laminate floors throughout, fully enclosed garden and dog walks directly from the door. There are steep steps down from the parking space to the back door, but the front door can be accessed from a level small roadway.

A beautiful cottage with every need catered for. The local pub called the nags head is a must.

This is a very clean, warm and well equipped cottage with good parking. The owners are helpful and have gone to great trouble to make the rooms look decadent. Good wifi and an excellent kitchen. Beware the narrow Welsh lanes though!

We had a wonderful time. The cottage was beautiful, newly renovated to a high standard, immaculate and very cosy. The cottage contained everything you needed and more. The location was perfect for us as a family, as we like to visit all the local beaches. Poppit sands, New quay, Mwnt. There are some nice walks around Y Filin Fach if you don't want to go too far. The Nags head is very friendly, within walking distance and serves beautiful food. We would definitely book this cottage again.
