Description

Enjoy many of Dorset’s fantastic attractions from this holiday property, which lies just 1½ miles from the beach.

On the outskirts of Weymouth and close to the causeway over to Portland, this terraced house offers an excellent holiday home from which to enjoy this wonderful part of Dorset. Being on the right side of Weymouth, there is easy access to Chesil Beach, the famous scenic Jurassic Coast and on to Lyme Regis. Within easy driving distance you can be in Weymouth or Portland and enjoying many seaside activities, ranging from swimming, boating, sailing, fishing and windsurfing. Weymouth itself offers many attractions to visit with its shops, Weymouth SEALIFE Adventure Park and its lovely award-winning sandy beach. Within easy driving distance is Monkey World, The Tank Museum and on towards Corfe Castle and the Swanage Steam Railway. Alternatively, take in the Purbecks with its wonderful scenery and famous Lulworth Cove. Nearby Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, has museums and character shops, or spend a fascinating day at Abbotsbury Swannery and Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens. Fancy a day trip to Guernsey or Jersey? Weymouth boasts one of the shortest passages across the channel, and there is no better way to experience the wonders of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline than by sea. Weymouth is an ideal location for south coast cruising holidays, or as a stopover in preparation for a channel crossing to Northern France, or the Channel Islands. A small, but busy port, and arguably one of the most attractive in Europe, it welcomes thousands of transits each year. This attractive part of Weymouth is well worth a visit for no other reason than to simply relax in the charm of such a beautiful old harbour and soak up the atmosphere. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

The cottage was situated in a good location with easy access for places to visit. The equipment was adequate but very basic. From a safety aspect there were no grab handles or slip mat in the bath/shower which caused some concern for my aging husband.

The cottage was a good size and in a good location for both Portland and Weymouth. Slight issue with parking due to local social club but not a problem. A couple of cleaning issues but feel it might be more that the owner is not aware of this so cannot resolve it.

Was a little disappointed with info sent regarding the house. No postcode or street name. Just a pic of a steeple in the background on the web which helped us find it after an hour. No combination to retrieve key from box, had to knock several neighbours, luckily one opposite had the combo. Disastrous start but once in and settled had a lovely week. A folder left with loads of info including owners mobile numbers. Was able to call and arrange an extension on our stay and Maggie was more than accommodating. Would highly recommend 😁

Lovely warm cottage, nice decor, close to beaches and nice cafes. Would stay again. Blind or curtain on upstairs landing window for privacy would be good.

Great cottage to base yourself for exploring the area. Loved the deco of the house or felt very homely. Great for a family of 4.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, though had a few comfort/safety issues: although the description implied a separate shower cubicle, in fact it was necessary to climb around the screen into the bath in order to take a shower (and there was no bath mat). Also, in the kitchen there were at least 2 loose floor tiles that were standing proud of the general level of the tiles. In the lounge, whilst the sofa was in good condition, the vinyl coverings were quite slippery which made it difficult to sit and recline satisfactorily. We appreciated very much the help we received from the owner, caretaker and cleaner with retrieving items that we had left behind inadvertently.
