This beautifully restored Grade II listed thatched barn dating back 300 years, has been divided into two beamed holiday cottages which reside in the grounds of the owners’ 500-year-old home Boyke Manor, where the great grandfather of Edward Elgar once lived, situated in the unspoilt Elham Valley, an AONB. Activities in the area include walking, horse riding, cycling, wildlife viewing, golf, beaches and art and crafts. Canterbury, great for shopping and sightseeing, and Dover, ideal for day trips to France, are both 20 minutes away. There is a fast train link to London (55 minutes). Shops ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

We booked Wren cottage as we had friends coming from the USA. The cottage was central for sight seeing and due to the building being thatched it was just devine for our friends to experience this. The owner Paul and his wife Linda were so lovely, making us feel so welcome. The welcome pack was an added bonus and we all enjoyed the goodies. Definitely recommend Wren cottage as it’s just perfect, beautiful surroundings and everything you need home from home.

Basically the cottage is between two small villages. Not too far from the M20, so everywhere was accessible. Plenty of room for 6 of us. The garden was big enough to enjoy games with the Grandchildren when we got back from out days out.

We had a fabulous week at Wren Cottage. We were greeted by the owner who showed us around and gave us ideas of where to visit. We had milk in the fridge and a box of delicious cookies. He then brought us a batch of freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream which we really enjoyed. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The garden was kept well with a large lawn and plenty of wildlife. We visited Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford among other locations and had a very enjoyable week in Kent. We would definately recommend the cottage to our friends and hope to revisit one day!
