Woolhanger Farmhouse had everything for our group 30th birthday celebrations! The house and adjoining annex are enormous and have everything required to house 12 people comfortably. The sauna and hot tub were absolutely fantastic. Contrary to our skepticism, the hot tub was ginormous and easily seated 8 of us, with definite room for more! The only negative here is that these facilities are only accessible until 9pm, but I can understand that the owners want to keep disruption to a minimum, as it's a beautifully tranquil spot that could easily be ruined by a rowdier party. One thing to note would be that the storage heaters in the annex were all set to off when we arrived, which we didn't realise until we went to bed in the early hours of the morning. If this was highlighted on arrival, it would have avoided the temporary discomfort of warming up a rather chilly bedroom! Other than that, the house is located very close (10-15min drive) to the quaint towns or Lynton and Lynmouth with coffee shops, souvenirs, delicious pasties/fudge and a beautiful coastal walk along the SW Coastal Path (and the funicular railway between the towns if you are so inclined), which was a very relaxing and enjoyable trip for the entire group.

lovely accommodation, beautiful gardens and amenities, the aga was brilliant we did lots of cooking on it and I wish I had one of these in my kitchen! beds were so comfy had amazing sleep did not wake up once from slumber which is not the case at home (noted the mattress brand and will get the same for my bed). The spa room was again fabulous and well maintained, we didnt use it as much as we would have liked to simply because it was cold outside. The house was nice and cosy for the 12 of us, shame the tv in the big living room was tiny had to huddle on one side to watch it, could invest in a bigger TV would make a lot of difference to the overall viewing for all. The games room was a hit with the kids and they spent most evenings playing pool or on the wii. Shame the big fridge freezer was broken on arrival, the replacement smaller fridge space was far too tiny for our shopping and any cooked food soon went off in the hot kitchen as there was no space to store it in the small fridge. Freezer space was plenty, but we did have a lot of expensive wastage considering we are a party of 12, the fridge aspect should have been better considered, the repairman did arrive 5 days into the trip to fix the big fridge but we had left on day 6 so no point really. The cleanliness of the place was a let down, one toilet was filthy and had clearly not been touched for a while, my 13 year old put on rubber gloves and cleaned it which he would never normally do but it was not something we could ignore. Overall, despite the oversights, the accommodation was lovely and the gardens were stunning, tennis courts kept the kids busy seeing as the nearest decent beach ie. woolacombe and Tescos was over 40 minutes away and the weather didn't pick up until the end of our trip. good value for money nevertheless.

Woolhanger farmhouse is a spacious, light and airy property with many appealing features. We enjoyed having the sauna and jacuzzi just outside the property and loved the location. We were able to walk straight from the door to Exmoor and the coast path. If you are holidaying with family and friends it is ideal as the space allows all to spread out and not feel on top of one another. We also appreciated the generous welcome pack which included two bottles of wine, ham, cheese, scones, jam, butter and clotted cream. All in all, it was a delightful break in a picturesque part of the country.

Wonderful weekend with friends. Beautifully presented and equipped accommodation with plenty of bathrooms, even though only one eu suite. Comfy seat for all 12 of us around the fire. Beautiful surroundings for a stroll. We did not leave the place all weekend. We were lucky to have a sunny weekend, so enjoyed the garden, hot tub etc. Perfect for a celebration when Wales beat England at rugby😉. Would love to return!! We took advantage of having an order delivered with Sainsburys, which made it all more relaxed. Such fabulous countryside in every direction, but lovely seaside towns on the doorstep too!

We had stayed at the farmhouse 2 years previous. First the good points - it is in a lovely quiet location with a large garden and large kitchen/diner and living room so plenty of space for 12 people. The Aga is great to use and keeps the kitchen nice and warm. The hot tub, tennis court and games room are potentially great features. However the property is in need of some TLC. Several of the sinks/bath did not drain very well and some of the bathrooms needed regrouting as they were showing significant mould. The fridge/freezer had to be power cycled almost every day when the water dispenser was used as the display came up with errors. The décor was looking rather tired particularly in the living area. Whilst the bedding and bathrooms were clean the place really needs a good clean throughout which is difficult to do between sequential bookings. We were also disappointed that the hot tub was not available on our last day when we came back early to use it and there was no notice about why. Later we were told it was due to a bacterial infection. Well it would have been nice to have had a notice at least! The property is high up so if there is low cloud then you sit in it.
