What a beautiful home in a beautiful part of Ireland. Full credit goes to the had everything you can think of especially with young children on tow..and the weather just made it even better. If it wasnt for the distance i would be there more often.

This is an exceptionally well located cottage about a mile from the bridge that links the mainland. The house contains 6 bedrooms, 2 are ensuite. Beds are comfortable, plenty of cutlery, crockery etc. Sofas are really comfortable and there are some DVDs in the house. There is space all around the house, with great views across the water and the hills. The owners live next door, are lovely and wholly unobtrusive, but helpful if needed. Very pleasant hosts indeed. The only negative in the whole house is that the kitchen hob needs replacement. I would stay there again if we revisited the area. There is a decent pub in a hotel about 1km towards Knights Town, very pleasant etc but maybe not the first choice for meals as about 1.6km away is Portmagee with a much livelier number of pubs selling good quality meals. Seafood in the Bridge is very good, in fact in the vast majority of places the standard of food was high. The Bridge was our preferred spot because close to home. The best parts of the island that we went to were the walk up Bray Head and the dinosaur foot and tail prints. This is a beautiful spot. Cahirsiveen (16km) has many good shops for stocking up. The tardis-like SuperValu at the petrol station was surprisingly good there as were eating out in the the church (Oratory?) where the pizzas are outstanding and the French bakery there is of a very high standard. We went in April so not the busiest time, but traffic can be slow moving on the Ring of Kerry. We actually thought the much shorter Ring of Skellig was nicer, particularly in the evenings. Beware that some of the activities can be overpriced and not necessarily good value. Overall, fantastic, great value accommodation run by a lovely family in a lovely spot with good quality restaurants and supermarkets reasonably close by.
