We have been taking holidays in the Lakes for the past 8 years and this is the worst experience we have had. From the start, we did not get into the property until 4.40pm eventhough the email we received said 3pm check in. The cleaner left and we tried to reverse our car up the VERY STEEP driveway to unpack the car. This was a mistake because the clutch on the car started to burn as it struggled to navigate the drive. We eventually gave up and parked the car at the bottom, carrying everything up the ridiculously steep drive. My husband has issues walking, we knew there were steep steps up to the property but did not foresee the problem of the drive. The property is advertised as a bungalow which is one of the reasons we chose it but the driveway is a nightmare!!! When we entered the property we noticed lots of issues: one bathroom between 6 adults, the rooms weren't very clean with dust hanging from radiators, under beds hadn't been vacuumed, there was what appeared to be blood on the walls, black mold on the patio door frame and the so called patio was a disgrace with dirty, broken furniture and a bird bath full of algae. The whole place was overgrown with plants covering the steps and moss on the drive making it extremely dangerous when wet. The outside of the property needs some work, it looks old and dated, completely different to the pictures on the website. Overall, the whole set up was disgraceful. When you pay nearly £800 for 4 nights, you expect better than this. We would definitely not recommend this place and would advise others to steer clear until the place is shown some TLC.

Upon arrival we were extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the property. There was thick dust everywhere (especially behind the tv). Also the paintwork was in a poor state. There was mould all over the bathroom. The shower curtain rail was almost falling out of the ceiling therefore we did not use it as we were concerned it would detach and cause serious injuries, therefore we just stuck to having baths. It was also very cold at times. It was stated in the email sent to me prior to arrival that the heating was on continuously but this was certainly not the case. As we have 2 very young sons this is not good. The was also a train track to the rear of the property which had trains using it all night. The train track was not mentioned in the listing of the property. There was tea coffee and individual milk cartons left upon arrival which was a nice touch if the milk would of been usable. The milk had gone off and had been there quite some time. This was not a cheap rental property and i would have certainly expected higher standards. I found this property a huge disappointment as it could be amazing! It is situated in a beautiful place however I certainly would consider returning.
