Just back from a long weekend at Woodend and it made a perfect base for visiting family in the area. For those wishing to explore further afield there is plenty of choice. Moffat and Biggar are worth a visit and Edinburgh is within travelling distance. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and offers everything you will need. The welcome basket provided by Ann was much appreciated. For those wanting just a peaceful break Woodend is perfect, just the birds and sheep for company. Perfect for canine visitors too, both our dogs enjoyed it! We will definitely return.

The cottage is beautiful with stunning scenery (even when it's raining) however there is a main road right outside the cottage which is busy from 0630 onwards so the traffic can disturb your sleep if you are used to peace and quiet. The owner is a lovely lady who made us feel welcomed with a welcome pack including Scott's porridge oats:) We felt sorry for her as there was an issue with the boiler/hot water and heating whilst we were there however she couldn't have been more helpful about the situation. The only drawback that we would add is the very complicated modern hob which we found impossible to figure out even with the instructions so we had to resort to cooking in the microwave and oven only. The cottage is approximately 30 miles from Edinburgh so a nice day out plus the local brewery at Broughton is just up the road and where the ales are marvellous! We also visited the beautiful Dawyck gardens - another worthwhile day out. The reason I have ticked 'wouldn't stay again' is because I like to try different areas of the UK. I would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Spacious, immaculate, fresh and modern. Everything you need and more. Two lovely bathrooms, very spacious bedrooms and the biggest even has its own sink. Lovely gardens and the view front and back is wonderful. The welcome hamper was fantastic with local produce. Broughton village is not too far away, with it's brewery and lovely village shop. Totally recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
