Beautiful traditional cottage in very peaceful remote scenic area. Great enclosed garden for dogs and children. Very cosy cottage with lovely log burner and home from home facilities. Lots within driving distance and walks from the door but not a area you would want to come if you want lots and activity. If you want privacy and peace then this is for you. Also Gill the caretaker is lovely and amazing!

Stunning situation and dog loved the enclosed side garden and walks to the river. The provisions were most welcomed as we were snowed in for a couple of days. Lovely and warm and great help to have a landline as no mobile reception. Wonderful to watch the wildlife too. Feedback for owners: fix handrail to front door (potential accident), deep clean whole cottage, replace very worn out kitchen, fix both shower heads, fix plug in bathroom sink, think about fitting our side lights.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback on your stay at our cottage. I am glad you enjoyed the beauty of our valley and stayed warm and cosy during the recent wild weather! We have passed your comments about “a deep clean” to our cleaner although we have not found any problems when we have inspected the house. The kitchen is admittedly not brand new and new counter tops are in the works, but it is fully functional and most people find it quite attractive. Two new outside lights were commissioned back in January and the electrician has been waiting for a weather break to start the work. I am not sure what the problem is with the outdoor handrail but we will check it out as the safety of our guests is a priority. We hope we can welcome you to our cottage again in the future.

It was the most perfect place possible for a cosy family Christmas get away. To make it even more special it snowed on Christmas Day! Mrs Nixon made the cottage so warm and cosy for our arrival with two beautiful Christmas trees as well! It really did look magical with all the lights on. We thought the moors looked beautiful on our way up with the sun shining but on our return journey the snow was still laying and it was amazing. Don't be put off by bad weather. The highways people are amazing! The cottage is on an un-named road but the gritter had been past by 8am on Boxing Day!

A quiet and peaceful holiday although we suffered multiple electrical power 'trips' - about 10 - on first Tuesday. A 'hard' fault by Wed morning on 'lower ring-main'. Contacted caretaker and problem solved within 90 minutes of reporting fault. Apart from this issue, a very pleasant place to stay - if you enjoy peace and quite!
