More remote than expected. Travel directions where only from Cirencester direction which was not the direction we were travelling from so not easy to find! No welcome pack or folder containing appliance instructions, Internet code on a scrape piece of paper which we only found several days into holiday and phone number on booking form was unrecognised so no use whatsoever. Felt cottage had only been given a quick clean as abundance of cobwebs throughout and patio doors did not lock but were held shut by a bolt that caused them to be very draughty. Some of the storage heaters did not work, thankfully a small electric heater helped as very cold on arrival. On a positive side shower was amazing with ample hot water, and cottage was sufficiently spacious for four adults.

Our holiday in Peats Cottage in late March/early April was our 4th holiday in either Peats Cottage or neighbouring Jaffa Cottage. We love the peaceful rural location with views across fields to hills and a reservoir. It is a good base for walking in varied countryside. Cheltenham and Stroud are within easy reach by car, although the approach road to the cottage has many pot-holes.. Unfortunately this holiday coincided with a spell of surprisingly cold weather for the time of year. We didn't want to light the log fire and we found the electric heating to be inadequate during the cold snap, so we highly recommend the cottage but only during the warmer months of the year. We found the double bed to be very comfortable and we slept well. There are some things that could be improved: (a) the single short towel rail is inadequate, (b) the TV is small by modern standards and (c) we would have liked larger chairs for the patio, but in general we were pleased with the cottage. Dog-owners and non-dog-owners might like to know that dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottage.

Amazing location. Would come again for the views alone. The cottage itself has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. For the price paid we didn't expect luxury. The cottage could do with a little bit of TLC, the chimney needs a sweep - only used the fire once as got so smokey inside the house. Luckily we had some amazing weather so wasn't needed. Overall a lovely cottage and well worth the money we paid. Personally if I owned it, I would add a few little touches to add to people's stay.

We loved the cottage but wish there had been an enclosed area to let dogs out at night. PS(I found a plunger and managed to unblock the bathroom sink.)

We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Peats Cottage. It's well-equipped, comfortable, and an excellent base for exploring the local area and further afield.

Lovely location. Nice cottage. Very clean. Trouble with the water not draining properly from the washbasin is our only complaint

We were there last year and there are some signs of a deterioration that need a little bit of TCL e.g taps and sink drainage. Wonderful location, especially for dogs, but the approach road is becoming almost unusable with simply awful potholes - needs someone to sort it out.

Love the location for us with two nutty cocker spaniels its perfect. Walk the Cotswolds way from the cottage. Its the fourth or fifth time we've stayed here. If you want five stars its not for you. Its cosy and comfortable and were already booking to go again later in the year .

The cottages are in the most beautiful setting and from the outside look perfect, however the inside tells a very different story. The owners really need to spend a little money making the place worthy of the prices they charged, Whilst generally the cottage was very clean, I had to wipe out crumbs from the inside of one kitchen cupboard. The centre light fittings haven't seen a cloth in years and have grime, dust and grease ingrained. The curtains were all dirty, particularly the kitchen blinds, which look like they were from a greasy cafe. There is a washing machine but no clothes airer or washing line, which isn't ideal. By far the worst thing about this cottage is the beds. The single beds had no headboards and had gaps at the top so pillows fell down between the wall and the mattress. The double bed in the master room was disgraceful. An old mattress that sagged and squeeked and a bed frame that made lying down feel like being bounced on a trampoline. A bedside drawer unit was damaged, the front came off one drawer every time I opened it. The coffee table in the living room is almost falling apart too. The only mirror near a plug socket is in the twin bedroom, there is no mirror in the master bedroom. With some TLC and a quick makeover this cottage could be amazing.

The best thing about this cottage is the location and views and this was the rating of 5, it was rural and quiet. For the cottage zero, everything was either old, cheap, worn out or broken, the cottage was grubby and the carpets filthy. There was definitely a case of "no expense spent"! Only saw the owner for about 10 seconds as she rushed by after just been to watch the football. I get the sense that this is just a quick and easy money maker for the owners and they don't care about their guests. I see from a previous review that a list of issues was given to the owner but nothing on that list was fixed or changed. As we holiday with our dogs every year we don't expect high end luxury but we do expect a basic standard, I wouldn't live in this at home so don't to pay to do so else where.
