Enjoy boat trips to Coquet Island, visit the bustling Sunday market or simply sit and watch the day’s catch being brought ashore. It is just a short drive from Warkworth with its hillside castle, river walks and pubs, and Alnmouth is only a little further with its picture postcard estuary, sandy beach and Ballamory-style houses visible from the road. Alnwick, with its famous castle and gardens, is 9 miles. The Heritage coast with miles of sandy beaches and castles can be followed directly from Amble. Seahouses, Bamburgh, Craster and Beadnell are about 30 minutes away. The vibrant city of Newcastle is 50 minutes.     We had a lovely week at Windmill Cottage. Our boys and dog loved the garden! The house is in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas and wonderful beaches. Would definitely return.
