Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Set in the most easterly village on the island, this semi-detached property lies close to beautiful beaches, ideal for a fun packed, family seaside holiday.

Willowdene Court is perfectly located in the village of Bembridge, close to the harbour and an easy walk away from a beautiful beach, making it the ideal base for holidays on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight. The village of Bembridge is a popular location for visitors to explore, and there are some wonderful beaches in the area, for the simple pleasures of swimming, building sandcastles, sunbathing, exploring rock pools and crabbing. There are also many walks and cycle paths to enjoy along the shoreline, the cliff path, or inland.
There are many attractions in the village worth visiting including Bembridge Windmill, built in the early 1700’s and is now owned and operated by the National Trust. Visitors can climb inside and view much of the original machinery. Take a tour of the R.N.L.I. station - Bembridge has had a station for nearly 150 years, the present boathouse, at the end of the pier, was completed in 2010 and houses a Tamar class lifeboat, 16 metres long, and capable of speeds of 25 knots. Bembridge itself is one of the UK’s largest villages and has many cafés, pubs and restaurants, you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding where to eat out, however, if you are catering yourself, you’ll find a fish shop, butcher, bakery, farm shop, delicatessens and supermarkets all nearby.
Outdoor pursuits on the island are well-catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, including The Needles with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and the coloured sands of Alum Bay, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park and Carisbrooke Castle. Why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes? Whatever you decide, one things for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach ¼ mile. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Admittedly this house does not have much curb appeal but inside it is fresh, clean and comfortable with everything you need for a weekend away. We had most of our meals on the patio as the weather was kind to us. The location is superb, 5 minutes walk from the beautiful beach at Bembridge with a great café and the lifeboat centre. The shops are close by too. It was a great base for exploring and visiting all the wonderful places the island has to offer. The owner was welcoming and there for us if anything was needed but we did not have to call. We enjoyed our time and would stay again.

Worst cottage we have ever had- no welcome pack or king size bed as advertised single mattress - springs gone . Owners personal belongings left in cupboards and draws- toiletries/ wine / underwear / personal food etc. Central heating old and very noisy . Shower over bath slow and cold- the one attached to the bath - no pressure. Front door difficult to close- we used the back door throughout the stay . Mugs all stained - in fact the whole cottage needed a clean as there were cobwebs everywhere . Washer door faulty and dishes washer we didn’t use as information book as you to ‘ treat with respect’ as it was old ! Understand this property has not been rated - but definitely needs to visited - Not up to the standard of any cottage we have had via cottages.com
