A pretty cottage with a wonderful wood burner, perfect for cooler evenings. The rear patio area is ideal for star gazing and it’s great being able to walk to the local pubs in the village.


Description

This idyllic ’chocolate box’ cottage is in a quaint village setting and makes a great location to holiday year round.

Ground Floor:
Step to entrance.
All on the ground floor.
Living room: With wood burner, 55" Freesat Smart TV, double sofa bed (for flexible sleeping arrangements), beams, wooden floor and French doors leading to patio.
Kitchen/dining room: Farmhouse style with range with electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, beams and tiled floor.
Study.
Bedroom 1 (L’ Occitaine): With super kingsize bed.
Bedroom 2 (Azure): With double bed.
Bedroom 3 (Sylvan): With ¾ double bed.
Bathroom: With freestanding claw-foot bath, shower attachment and toilet.
Shower room: With step to shower cubicle, toilet and tiled floor.

Air source central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial logs for wood burner included. Travel cot and highchair. Telephone.

Front garden with garden furniture. Enclosed rear patio. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is an unfenced stream in the garden, 10 yards away.

Located in the heart of Northumberland, Willow Cottage is a Grade II listed, detached cottage retaining many features and oozing character and charm. The pretty setting of the cottage, with the little stone bridge and small stream to the front, really does present a true ’chocolate box’ image of a pretty country cottage. The inglenook fireplace is a lovely feature and the wood burner is ideal for cool nights in. With three bedrooms, Willow Cottage is ideal for couples and small families with plenty of space throughout and a lovely front garden area, as well as seating on the rear patio.

The cottage is set close to the Northumberland National Park, highly acclaimed for its dark skies. The small village of Wark has village pubs, a shop and post office and is only a 2-minute walk from the cottage door. Ideally located for walkers and cyclists, being only 6 miles from the Chesters Roman Fort and Hadrian’s Wall, a huge visitor attraction stretching from Wallsend, near Newcastle, over to Carlisle. The small town of Bellingham is only 5 miles with an array of local amenities, whilst Hexham with its abbey, shops and pubs is just 12 miles away. You can visit the Northumbrian Heritage Coast which is easy to access and makes a lovely day out, with miles of golden sands stretching along to Berwick-upon-Tweed. Alnwick Castle is only 40 miles, and is famed for its scenes in Harry Potter. The visitor centres at Kielder Water are only 19 miles where there are miles of mountain bike trails and water sports for all the family to enjoy. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

    A wonderful week in a fantastic home away from home. The cottage is much larger than the photographs show and the back garden area is great... unfortunately the weather wasn't the best so we didn't really use it. Local pubs and restaurants were great and the local post office / shop is just 2 minutes walk away. Beautiful area and one which we will come back to!

    A very pretty cottage in a sleepy village. Lots of room and ideal for the elderly or infirm , being all on one level. Lovely and quiet. The toiletries and bathrobes provided were a nice touch. Go to nearby Bellingham for anything other than the basics , i.e milk and bread, although there is a good butcher's shop which sells locally produced artisan sausages etc. Excellent local pub/restaurant- Battlesteads. Made an ideal base for exploring the area. Nearest beach is Whitley Bay , a one and a half hour drive along picturesque country lanes. Lots of historical Roman sites to see , as well as stunning walks along Hadrian's wall , among others.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Lovely spacious cottage with literally everything provided. Enclosed garden with barbeque and table & chairs for balmy evenings. Great selection of games for the kids and very well equipped kitchen with every labour saving appliance. More than enough space for 3 adults and 2 children. Cosy on the chilliest evening we enjoyed lighting the log burner a few evenings. With a shower room and a seperate bathroom with roll top bath very welcome for a party of 5. Bedrooms were lovely and the 4 poster bed has to be the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in anywhere!
