Description

Boasting a cosy woodburner, this delightful property is perfect for families and friends to explore this beautiful area.

Dating back to the 17th century, these barn conversions are set on a 100-acre, family-run working arable and livestock farm, just a few miles from Whitchurch. They share a multi-sports court for mini tennis, badminton and football with other barns on site, as well as a fantastic indoor heated swimming pool. The shared swimming pool is available for exclusive use for each barn and booking slots are available throughout the day, booked on your arrival. The swimming pool is open all year round but opening times may vary. A woodland picnic area lies a short walk away from your barns and there is a fantastic enclosed toddler play area available for children under 6 years. Walkers can explore the Shropshire Union Canal, just 5 minutes away, and the Shropshire Way footpath runs through the farm, while coarse fishing is less than 5 miles and horse riding 1½ miles away. For cyclists, the Mercian Cycle Path runs past the farm. Whilst the barns enjoy a peaceful rural setting, they are still very close to amenities. Whitchurch is approximately 2½ miles away, the delightful market town has many splendid buildings from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, all dominated by St. Alkmund’s Church. Internationally renowned for its clock production dating back to the 1650s, Whitchurch is known as ’the Home of Tower Clocks’, and a fine example can be seen on one of the barns. There are many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants in the town which is perfectly placed for touring all of Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire. Attractions close by include Ellesmere with its beautiful lakes, 11 miles, a variety of National Trust mansions and gardens, and the historical city of Chester with its excellent shopping and famous races, 25 miles, with the Blue Planet Aquarium close by. Chester Zoo, as seen on TV’s ’Secret Life of a Zoo’, is only 30 minutes away and is one of Europe’s largest zoos, helping endangered animals from all over the world. Other places of interest include Hawkstone Follies, Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, RAF Cosford, Fenn’s and Whixall Mosses, and the incredible Ironbridge Gorge. For great shopping, there is Shrewsbury with its medieval architecture and riverside walks, and Telford with its indoor shopping centre. Shop and restaurant 2 miles, pub approx 1 mile. These properties are two of five, which share a courtyard.

We really enjoyed our week at the cottage. The children particularly enjoyed the pool and the sports courts and also the quirky design of William's Loft with lots of places to hide.

Excellent property, and it would have had 10 out of 10 in the summer! Fantastic place for a get away.. The heating system was on a timer and it went off at night which meant with the cold weather the bedrooms were freezing at night. The pool and the cottage were perfect apart from that.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank for your 9/10 score. The programmed heating during the night does reduce from 21 degree to 17 degrees to give you a comfortable sleep. However during your stay, it was -11 degrees and snow (The Beast from the East). Sadly you did not mention this during your stay as we could have supplied additional heating as it was very, very cold!

Lovely holiday cottage. The house was well equipped. Only criticism would be that the sofas were uncomfortable, everything else was fabulous.

Very clean, kitchen well equiped, our bed comfortable - didn't ask the others! Hot and stuffy upstairs (no opening window in the twin room, not a lot of ventilation in the middle room). In the middle of nowhere :) good for us, we like that sort of thing. Not for you if you want a stroll to the pub or paper shop.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your high score of 9/10 and we are glad you enjoyed our luxury mattress. You were very lucky with the weather during your stay here in the Heart of England we had 32 degrees while you stayed with us. All windows have a child’s locks and are ‘openable’ however the locks prevent accidents for little ones the key to remove locks are available. As of our location we are in Beautiful Rural Shropshire and we are less than 1 mile from our Local Pub and 2 miles from Whitchurch less than 10 min drive. Whitchurch is a charming market town which has a large Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Lidl, Argos with lots of independent shops, bars and an array of wonderful restaurants and a Farmers Market once a month. We are 1 ½hrs from Manchester, 1hr 15min from Birmingham. We feel your comment may be misinterpreted by other viewers, we are in a semi rural location, which can be seen on the map, and not in the ‘middle of nowhere’
