An idyllic retreat, with a private hot tub, set in 3 acres of grounds with many country and coastal walking opportunities nearby.

Lancombe Lodges are set in three acres of glorious Thomas Hardy country, in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in West Dorset and near the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, including Chesil Beach. These wooden lodges offer an idyllic retreat amongst a breathtaking landscape of rolling countryside, a perfect base for exploring, where there are free-roaming chickens on-site, and neighbouring livestock. Each lodge has its own decked patio where you can chill out after a day out, or relax in the three acres of grounds, enjoy a dip in the heated indoor swimming pool or an invigorating sauna. Broad Lodge and Wey Lodge guests can also enjoy their own private hot tub. There is also a shared spa room which offers massage and beauty treatments. Perfect for the younger generation, there are fairies in the woods for the children to find. There are many country walks nearby with natural trails such as the Wessex Ridgeway. For scenic coastal walks, the spectacular Jurassic Coast with stunning views over Lyme Bay is a must. Explore the seaside resorts of Weymouth, West Bay, Charmouth and on to Lyme Regis, taking in some fossil hunting, swimming and boating. Enjoy historic houses such as Athelhampton House and Gardens, Mapperton House and Gardens and Forde Abbey and Gardens, and family attractions at Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, Bovington Tank Museum and Sea Life Centre at Weymouth. Within an easy drive is the county town of Dorchester with shops and restaurants, or further afield the historic town of Sherborne with abbey, the market town of Bridport, Swannage and Poole, or enjoy golf, fishing, horse riding or go-karting. Location is Rural so it is what it is really! I liked it as it was for complete get away A local pub would have been nice but the hot tub made up for it So so friendly, lovely hosts! I have already re-booked a weekend at the end of November and cannot wait! Absolutely recommend!

Lovely place set in a superb location. Just felt that it required some T.L.C. around the lodge including, painting of cabin, hot tub area was untidy, curtains were dirty at the bottom and the bed was nice but the mattress was like laying on a board so unless you sleep on top of the duvet it was uncomfortable. Everyone was friendly and quick to help if we had a problem, pool was superb but showers were poor and needed fixing. We made the most of it and enjoyed it, hot tub was excellent. Pictures are discieving about the size of the lodge and proximity of the neighbouring lodge. Not sure about the 3 acres for walking as trees had fallen in the woods so this wasn’t practical. Would go again though.
