This thoughtfully furnished boutique-style holiday cottage makes an ideal base in rural Kent, ‘The Garden of England’, yet you are within the M25 offering speedy access to London via road, or rail from Swanley. The area owes its vibrant ambience in part to its student population that attend the university in Greenwich nearby. If your idea of rest and relaxation is a spot of retail therapy then Bluewater is just 8.5 miles away, offering over 300 shops and 50 restaurants. There is also a cinema complex and seasonal ice-skating rink. Bring your bikes and cycle to the surrounding picturesque villages of Eynsford, where there is a ford beside a pretty humpback bridge, and Shoreham, a beautiful old village in the Darent valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stop for tea and don’t miss the duck race on the river! At Eynsford head towards Lullingstone Roman Villa, one of the most magnificent villa survivals in Britain, or the 500-year-old Lullingstone Castle and World Gardens, home to the National Eucalypts Collection. Visit Eagle Heights, one of the UK’s largest bird of prey centres and increasing wildlife sanctuary, and enjoy a Falconry experience day. If speed is what you’re looking for, Brands Hatch racing circuit is 6.5 miles away, where you can enjoy a track day or driving experience. National Trust properties including Knole House at Sevenoaks and Winston Churchill’s home at Chartwell are easily accessible. Golf available locally, as well as carp fishing at Darenth Fishing Complex (at cost, licence required). Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
