Cottage was damp and cold, the bathroom was very cold, the shower did not work with the water coming out cold and only a dribble. We were not aware on booking that the cottage was on a busy crossroads with traffic going past all night. It needs updating and decorating, lots of "stuff" everywhere and lots of !"instructions", did not feel very comfortable, and would not book again. Best part was the large field for the dogs but put off by the chickens roaming about, our dogs do not chase animals but some other dogs may which makes it a no go!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; This is a country cottage, furnished accordingly, it is not damp and there is ample heating provided. The shower works perfectly well if switched on. The ignition cord was pointed out. The customer made no complaint but left early without informing us or locking the door. Property was therefore insecure for a day and night. Not ideal! The only 'instructions' are a request that dogs are controlled when initially using the field.

The cottage was very poor cleanliness wise throughout but especially around the right hand side of the cooker hob which was filthy, the floors were very dirty, plates glasses and cutlery needed to be washed before we could use them, the bath needed washing before use and the shower could not be used because the water was far too hot and could not be adjusted to make the shower cooler. The location was on very busy roads on two sides and you could not open windows during the day because of the road noise. There was an area to take your dog which was fenced in however the owner had chickens in the same area hence you couldn’t let your dog wander off the leash during the day also the roads are “as said” very busy around the house with no paving hence we were very disappointed that we could not take our dog a decent walk without first taking him in the car and driving to an area to give him a proper walk. The interior paint of the cottage was tired with the once white paint looking very yellow now and generally the Cottage could do with a good clean and needs freshening up decor wise throughout! The owner was a very nice lady however I’m afraid we would neither stay here again nor recommend the cottage to others and I’m afraid this is the worst cottage we have rented to date .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I strongly refute the comments made. The property is always thoroughly cleaned between lettings and has a very good cleanliness record. There is a one acre lawned paddock available for guests and their pets, ample provision for dogs to be exercised responsibly ( in this case one very small one). No mention was made of any problem with the shower during the guest's stay or upon leaving. The guests who followed immediately after have confirmed that the shower worked perfectly well. With regards to paintwork, some is white, some is cream (not yellowed white!).
