For the ultimate pampering holiday in one of the most dramatic and unspoilt areas of the Highlands, West Horizon is definitely the right choice to make.


Description

This stunning property has a state of the art hot tub, a summerhouse with a bar area and a large garden - you won’t want to leave!

Situated in an elevated position and enjoying commanding views across open hills to the sea beyond, West Horizon offers the height of luxury in a stunning setting. This single-storey modern house is built of solid redwood and the main living area is open plan. This stunning room has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and large picture windows that drink in the light and the amazing views. The living area has a superb contemporary gas log-effect fire at one end, as well as bright, modern, high quality sofas and there is underfloor heating throughout. The dining table is polished antique teakroot which is over 1000 years old, and the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with integral appliances and generously proportioned cupboards. Cooks will be delighted with the 5-ring gas hob and double ovens. There are three large double bedrooms, two with 5ft beds and a master bedroom with a zip and link, super kingsize bed with en-suite bathroom. The family bathroom continues the luxury theme, with a deep bath and separate shower.

At the rear of the cottage is a large decked area. Here, there is a top of the range Blue Whale spa hot tub for up to six people. There are high quality reclining sun loungers and seats, and at the far end the owners have built a superb summerhouse with bar stools, coffee tables and chairs, as well as a bar area with a range of wines, spirits, beers and mixers, payable via an honesty box. There is also an American-style fridge/freezer in the summerhouse which has a water filter and ice maker. It is an ideal spot to sit and enjoy the incredible views across uninterrupted hills to the sea clearly visible beyond.

Situated in a small hamlet of scattered cottages, West Horizon offers peace and seclusion, with the owner’s cottage adjoining. There are wonderful walks direct from the property up into the hills beyond, including a superb walk to a small loch. The region is a haven for wildlife and deer are regularly seen close by. Osprey, eagles, seals and otters can all also be spotted in the immediate area. The region is renowned for its hill walking and climbing, and the dramatic peaks of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt dominate the nearby skyline of this wild and unspoilt Highland region.

Just 450 yards away is the pretty sand and stone beach of Balchladich. Continuing further along the lane leads up to Stoer Lighthouse, a dramatic promontory which provides further wild and spectacular walks, with the opportunity to spot porpoises and Minke whale which are seen along this shoreline. There are numerous other sandy beaches along this beautiful unspoilt coastline. Sailing, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and climbing are all local pastimes. The nearby hamlet of Clachtoll has a small shop and café, as well as another renowned sandy beach. The larger village of Lochinver, just over 7 miles away, has a larger selection of facilities. This pretty fishing village with its natural harbour has a good selection of restaurants, two pubs, small shops and cafés. Beach 450 yards. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 7½ miles.
