The ancient farmhouse at Werngochlyn dates back to the 12th century. It nestles in open farmland underneath the Skirrid Mountain and the four comfortable holiday cottages are sympathetically converted from stone farm buildings set around the farmyard. The setting is perfect for children of all ages (adults too!). There is plenty of room to run around and explore – and plenty of animals to befriend…. a pair of Kune-kune miniature pigs, a very large Gloucester Old Spot, a donkey, goats, sheep, chickens (you can collect your own eggs for breakfast if you want to), ducks, dogs, cats and loads of horses and ponies – including a tiny rescue pony named Tinkerbell.
You could stay around the farm all day – with a heated, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, games room and riding school on site with tuition for all ages from 4 years plus and then a BBQ in the evening. There are footpaths running directly from the farm and dogs are welcome. You are ideally place to explore the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Usk and Wye Valleys and the fantastic countryside that surrounds the nearest market town of Abergavenny which is only 3 miles away – home of the Food Festival. It boasts good shops and a market, a cinema, theatre, castle and museum as well as good choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants including Michelin starred ‘Walnut Tree’ which is within walking distance of the farm. An 18-hole golf course and driving range is only ½ mile away. An enjoyable stay that will have you wanting to return. Shop 3 miles.

The cottage was ideally placed for our requirements and the indoor pool was a nice extra. The equipment provided was quite suitable for our party and the cleanliness was up to standard, however the overall impression that we came away with was that the property was tired and would soon be in need of an upgrade. Thank you to the owners and we did enjoy our stay.

As a family holiday we had the best time. Beautiful location and the farm owners were friendly and the animals too. The children loved collecting their eggs fro. The chicken and feeding all the animals. Shall be visiting again.

Great holiday enjoyed every minute. The cottage was clean and cosy and you could not wish for any more equipment everything was covered. The pool and hot tub were very much appreciated after long walks in the national parks. We were made to feel like on of the family by Maggie and Richard nothing was too much. Very enjoyable stay and I hope to return soon.

Cottage is in a beautiful location with good amenities. The owners are friendly and helpful. The cottage itself, while providing all that we needed, could benefit from some 'TLC'. But saying that, it would be unfair to expect more as it was relatively inexpensive.

Nice friendly cottage, owners very nice. No problems to speak of apart from the weather. Pool building could do with an update, to stop the drafts. Pool good, hot tub very nice

Lovely cottage, spacious, warm and comfortable although the sofa's were a little low for my elderly father. Hot tub was a nice benefit. The track down to the cottage was a quite uneven but as we arrived following very bad snow conditions I guess this had an impact. We would definitely consider staying there again if we need to be close to Abergavenny.

Its a really shame. We found the cottage very cold and poorly finished. They had extra heaters that did not work. The shower was broken. They games room was very poor with broken games. The cottage offered no extras ie boardgames or towels or extra blankets. This cottage was in a lovely place and could be stunning. Such a shame
