Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Perfect for couples or a small family, this first floor apartment overlooks Hastings town centre and the coast and is only a short walk from the beach.

Enjoying an elevated position, with sea views from the decked balcony, this well-presented first floor apartment is located close to the West Hill of Hastings in East Sussex. From the West Hill, gaze across the English Channel to the south as the seagulls swoop down over the roof tops of Hastings old town to the east, or spot the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe land its catch. During the summer months you can take the West Hill lift which is a funicular railway providing access to the remains of Hastings Castle, the first castle in England built by William the Conqueror, and St Clements caves where acres of tunnels reveal the history of smuggling. The Jerwood Gallery down on The Stade in the middle of the fishing quarter with its iconic net huts is home to a collection of British 20th and 21st-century art. There are many events held throughout the year in Hastings. From ’Dress up your Dog Day’ in January, through to the May Day celebrations featuring the traditional welcome to the spirit of Summer. June brings the 1066 cycling festival and Battle weekend. Bring your pirate costume for Pirates Day and enjoy Carnival week in July. Art and Music lovers can enjoy a variety of events from Beatles Day to classical music at the Opus theatre and the wonderful St Mary in the Castle. The live music scene is also active in the local pubs. Other great venues cater for various music tastes from organ recitals, to Rye Jazz and Blues Festival in August. October brings Hastings week with many events. Oh yes, and don’t forget Hastings Bonfire Procession with Battle and Robertsbridge bonfire society processions in November! And rounding up the year is the Herring Fair in November and preparations for Christmas! Hastings always has something going on!
If time allows, explore the stunning combination of coast and countryside that 1066 country has to offer. No visit would be complete without a trip to Battle, the Edwardian seaside resort of Bexhill and its art décor De La War Pavilion, or the cobbled streets of the medieval cinque port town of Rye. Good rail connections to London. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

We spent two weeks in Wellington Garden together with our daughter. Instantly we fell in love with this beautiful cottage. We loved view from the patio to Hastings harbour, the spacious and cosy livingroom as well as the well equipped kitchen. Dee has been a lovely host an surprised us with a "welcome package" that included some essential food so there was no need to rush to the next supermarket. The cottages lies on the west hill. This means: nice views over the town, a quiet neighbourhood an short walks to the old town as well as to the new town. Next time we go to Hastings it'll be for sure Wellington Gardens.
