We booked this cottage because we thought it was dog friendly, but it was dog tolerated. To many rules, the cottage itself is very nice and well stocked

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks for your comments about the cottage and feedback. Sorry to hear that you thought the cottage was only 'dog tolerated with too many rules'. The rules that we gave you in the information pack only follow the guidelines of the Agency. Full details can be seen on their FAQ's page under ‘What Does Pet Friendly mean’.

Lovely cottage with wonderful view over the valley. We really appreciated being able to start day walks in all directions from the cottage. Lots of info and maps provided by the owner.

A lovely cottage but didn't get to enjoy the area fully as we went the weekend after the worst storm "The beast from east " Was still a lovely cosy place to stay very warm and relaxing. Bed so comfortable would love to come back to explore better. Can't fault the cottage and owner response to problems. Thanks Mike

Lovely, well equipped cottage in the beautifully remote ex-mining village of Nenthead. Fantastic scenery and views from the back bedroom window. The stove in the sitting room a welcomed feature in the middle of winter. Very friendly and helpful locals. Thanks for a lovely week.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, the photos do not do it justice. It is much more spacious than it appears on the photos. Don't go to this cottage if you want the hustle and bustle of a town centre - it's not there. What you get is... No Internet - heaven, intermittent reception - wonderful. The view from the cottage is gorgeous, lovely walks round about. We ate in The Miners Arms a couple of times and the food was really good, homely cooking and they could not do enough for us. The whole area is very dog friendly and our two loved it. If you like peace, quiet, beautiful scenery, friendly and helpful neighbours, welcoming village, a very well equipped cottage, resulting in a fabulous holiday, relaxation and harmony - definitely book this cottage!!!! Absolutely loved it!!!!!! There are a few comments about the additional cost for fuel, whilst we were there the meter wasn't working so a note for a suggest amount for the week was left and we happily paid for this, my only suggestion would be that to save 'disgruntled' visitors it maybe better if this was incorporated into the cost of the cottage.... obviously don't know if this is possible.

It was very comfortable and well-equipped and, very important, the beds were comfortable. So where did it drop points? It was quite hard to keep it warm, as the owner warned. You really do need to believe him when he says bring some warm clothes for the evening. The main room was quite dark. Also, we were a group of three but I do think a 4th adult might have had a problem with the sloping ceiling on the far wall in the twin bedroom. But these drawbacks are reflected in the very reasonable rent. If you want superb luxury you pay twice as much! It was absolutely great for what we wanted, which was a good base for walking in the beautiful empty North Pennines.
