Dating back to 1857, Waterside Cottage is a former crofting cottage that the owners have lovingly restored and filled with both contemporary and antique furniture. The cottage is perfect for a large family, two families or friends. Two dogs are welcome, but they’re only allowed downstairs and the charming cottage garden. Waterside Cottage is an outstanding short break or week long holiday base. Within the attractive crofting cottage the interiors are fresh and pleasing on the eye. For an old cottage there’s an enormous amount of natural light spilling into every room. The living/dining room is a highlight, and a place that you’ll thoroughly enjoy recharging in after long days out exploring the island.
Situated right beside Broadford Bay, the seascape is constantly changing as it very tidal. At low tide, there’s an expansive sandy beach to explore right from the garden, and at high tide the water laps the border of the garden. The cottage is different every hour of the day! Waterside Cottage is opposite a fantastic hotel, bar and restaurant, and only a short walk into the centre of Broadford where there are amenities. Being on the outskirts of Broadford, Waterside Cottage makes for the perfect base from which to explore all corners of the Isle of Skye. Local highlights include the road to Elgol, from which you can climb Blaven, one of the UKs finest peaks. And also the village of Elgol itself, enjoying possibly the best views of any island settlement. The Sleat Peninsula is close to the cottage too, and there are many off the beaten path sights to see. Only 20 minutes from the cottage is Sligachan, where all the famous routes into the Cuillin start, so you’re within easy reach of some world-class hiking. Portree and the famous northern peninsulas are reached within 40 minutes.
